I trust the Sedin's judgement on these types of things. They are beyond crafty when it comes to drawing up set plays. Having Daniel at the blue line requires the opposition D to stand near him, and if Hank/Edler/etc. come up with speed they either catch them flatfooted or the opposition have bad gap management. Its the same reason they do the drop pass, throw off the angles and force players to stop/start

Yes they are good at gaining the zone this way with possession. I still would like a different net from presence for them other then Sutter.

So back to hockey. I brought up earlier in the thread Burrows and possible trade value. Are there any thoughts to this?
- Nuck4U

If Burrows plays well enough to be traded I think most would be for it. Personally I don't see it happening as even if we retain cap it'll still be more money than contending teams can afford. So likely a moot point.

It might be square peg into round hole issues. I've seen less talented Canuck teams perform or produce better over the years.

WD wants a defensive first trap system which may not suite these players. Or that they can't stay in that system because in today's NHL teams can score goals and so they wind up chasing the game. Thus not playing within the system.

Of course players need to execute and there are a number here that have struggled for different reasons. Perhaps if they are given a different play book they will succeed more often then fail.

There have been less talented teams that have trapped their way to a cup. I think the new NHL is the answer to why the Canucks are not talented enough. The game has been opened up, the lineups are deeper and the players entering the NHL are more creative. They are harder to defend IMO, so you used to be able to clog up the ice with big bodies to neutralize the opposition and hope your scoring line wins you the game 1-0; the newer NHL makes it more important to either be fast (so you can recover) or smart. The best in the NHL are both (Crosby, McJesus, Karlsson, etc.), I think the Canucks lack a lot of smarts outside of the Sedin's, Bo looks to have both though, but just arent deep enough

Maybe you would have a thought if you read the original post and responded to why you don't view it like that.
- Nuck4U

But I'd have to (frank)ing care and that ain't happening.

But aren't all those guys useless, you must have looked at the wrong data set
- Makita

Now that Burrows is drinking from the fountain of youth, he doesn't appear to be as 'useless' as he was at the start of the season. Who knows, maybe they will extend him for another 4 years with a NMC.

Hopes high that Boeser can bring the speed/creativity factor when he gets to the NHL

you are accusing people of misunderstanding your views. As soon as I shed some light on why people may be misunderstanding you, you get defensive, much like when people oppose your views on ANYTHING canucks related. You're going to go far kid

- Codes1087

oh man you were being literal. I have never had any issue with views mine or anyone's. Nor is it defensive when I shoot back at personal barbs that have nothing to do with views or hockey talk. #HBfodderforboredposters.

BB's got a quick releasing accurate hard shot and knows how to get in the right scoring position. That's missing desperately on this team. I think BO comes close and so could JV who needs to work on accuracy and getting into position more.

Boeser looks like a great prospect but from what I have seen/read I don't think speed and creativity are his calling cards.

He looks like a good finisher, something as well this team needs but I imagine he will need someone to set him up. I'm always a little wary of guys who score a lot of goals in juniors/college from distance.

I made the analysis view post on page 3 not to repeat it again. Though as for Burr's contract of 5O% retention that can still work. Maybe it might have to be a contending team that has an injury. Or one that wants a vet more like him and can send a younger player down or in exchange on trade.
