If he didnt call the timeout it would have been the carlyle thing all over again

damned if you do, damned if you don't

I was expecting some of the usual suspects to be unhappy that Babcock used his timeout too early.

He should've pulled a Showalter. Why use a timeout now when you need it when you might need it later?!! Think about it!

But throughout it all......the leafs still continue to blow multiple goal leads.
Can we move past that now?
Please.

Yeah I agree. But then on the other hand kids are still learning how to play with leads. Andersen at least has rounded into form more, but Enroth has to get it together. He has been pretty damn bad overall so far and we really do need to steal games when he plays giving Andersen a rest, especially like tonight where we should have had 2 points.

No.

Blowing leads is an improvement over not having them.

Yeah, it's become a calling card of this team.

One of the primary issues IMO, as I've said for a while now, is that the veterans that the Leafs count on to be above these meltdowns are either a) remnants of past year's meltdown teams (Bozak, JVR, Kadri, Gardiner, Komarov) or b) just plain suck ass (Hunwick, Polak, Marincin, Smith)

Nothing is really going to change for at least a few years when the kids who are rookies now have matured into the veteran leaders on the team and there is a new crop of rookies to learn from them.

I mean, it's fine with me. I have more or less resigned myself to never feeling safe when the Leafs have a lead of any kind. Hell, when I was at the Preds game, it was 6-2 with a minute left and I still wasn't comfortable. Hopefully one day that changes, but I think it's gonna be a while

This is sexist, racist, transphobic, homophobic and islamaphobic.

It doesn't help that their best defenseman in his own zone (Rielly) isn't that good in his own zone and plays with a rookie playing his first year on a different ice surface.

Indeed.

But the other factors are more pressing, IMO.

Rielly is still young and can come around. Zaitsev could possibly be given a mulligan for his 1st season on NA ice.

But I think we know what we have with some of the other riffraff, and I'll be glad when I don't have to see those guys anymore.

Zaitsev might be better than Rielly defensively at this point.

Yeah offensively he's not been great yet, it's his defensive game that is surprising me.
