Anybody else keeping an eye on Michael Rasmussen? plays with tri City
6.5, 200lbs
Gp24 - 20g - 12 A -32 Points
I know the talk is to move away from power centers, but this kid got some great hands, good skater and a responsible in the dzone - sounds like Kopitar

- Brooks_Light

He would be a good pick outside the top 10. But there are better centers inside the top 10.

Former Cougars goalie was playing the best hockey of his life and then his girlfriend broke up with him and his game went for total sh!t he was never the same after that. Let in like 8 goals the first game after his break up. Home issues can really mess with a guy.

You gotta be weak sauce to get (frank)ed up over losing your girlfriend.

Getting divorced, losing custody of your children, and having to start all over again. Losing your bananas in that situation I can understand but losing your poop over a girlfriend is just crazy.

I'm having a very Canuck start to the season, ride the hot goalies to 1st then drop to 11th after two brutal losses...

I looked for you at Jam Cafe yesterday. I was going to slap you with the strip of bacon that garnished my Bloody Mary.

If Edmonton and Buffalo keep letting in beach balls I dont stand much of a chance

That being said, Edmonton plays AZ twice this week and Colorado, so Talbot might help me there

You picked Talbot as your goalie wasn't De Pietro available, you'd be better off not dressing a goalie.

Losing a long-term girlfriend can be every bit as bad as everything else you mentioned...just depends on the individual.

I waited a long time to go after goalies, plus I figured McDavid vs the Canucks would produce a bunch of easy wins since we lack a defensive system

not by much - maybe Hischier and Vilardi but I'd say Rasmussen is right up there with them.

There's Mittelstadt and Necas too but it's a little harder to gauge how there transitions might go.

Tyler Boland, Mason Shaw and Cody Glass are a couple of other notables that are moving up the rankings but who knows.

I don't know...Rasmussen sounds like a big kid that is great in front of the net. He isn't a playmaker and doesn't drive the offense. Admittedly, I haven't watched him live, just going off scouting reports. We need to draft somebody with speed that drives play. Similar to what Horvat is developing into but better passing/ finishing ability.

Keeping it in a hockey conversation; I wouldn't draft a player to be my future goalie if he doesn't have the mental fortitude to deal with an emotional situation.

Look, when I was young I got caught up in the whole girlfriend thing. Made me do crazy things. But I soon got a hold of myself, put logic ahead of emotion, dealt with it and got over it.

Emotions will always get you but it's the recovery that counts. The pros have an amazing ability to put their emotions aside and focus on what’s important. To throw your life away because of a bad breakup with a girlfriend is just nuts.

I agree completely. I was really excited about Rasmussen but was able to catch some of his games and while he is big and effective in front of the net, he doesn't have much talent.

People were comparing him to Getzlaf at one point but he doesn't have the same skill or willingness to use that size.

Mittelstadt is the guy to watch IMO.

Safe to say Canucks should have taking Nylander, larkin or Eilers before they took the entitled Jake Virtanen.

Sad to say that the Leafs have developed their youngsters better than our management group has handled ours

I don't know how much truth to the story but I heard Rypiens girlfriend was killed in a car crash on her way to a game in Calgary. I don't think he handled it well either.

you hear many things. People react differently

No, he was just quiet. Stoic. However, tragedy struck when Rypien's girlfriend died in a car accident en route to a game in Calgary during Rypien's second year with the Pats. "That hit him pretty hard," offered Peter Engelhardt, the father of Rypien's billet family, to the Regina Leader-Post last summer.Oct 8, 2011
