It's obvious FA wants a competitive team. However, what are the stupid trades that have occurred to sell the future off for the present...?
- Nuck4U

a 2nd for Vey. Not trading Vrbata when we had the chance. Trading Lack instead of Miller. Plus all the rumors where it sounds like a GM tried to get too much from us and we walked away. The only reason I can see trades not happening, is if FA really is trying to sell the team and doesn't want to make a trade that may upset fans enough to scare away a potential buyer.

Gabriel Valradi is looking like a good pick for the Canucks in the summer...

Is Nolan Patrick injured?

NYR also have one of the best goaies in the league in any given season. They are also able to get young gifted players to want to sign with him, not just based on how good they are, but also location.
- Retinalz

Location is just an excuse. King Henrik hasn't been that good the last couple of years and he doesn't have that many years left either. I chose NYR as an example because they don't have a lot of big stars but fast players with a good coach AV.

Burrows scored 30 what 6 years ago? How's that even comparable.. this post doesn't even make sense I'm not saying he's anything special but he's a top 6 winger who's on a decent contract.. he would be Vancouvers leading scorer..
- ClarksonDavid

But he's injury prone and that's why teams are scared away from picking him up.

Apparently the other hernia is giving him problems after his off season surgery.

Okay whatever your hate on for FA that's a different issue.

As for the rest of the above you lost me as far as examples. I would have brought up Kassian trade over the above. Though we know Kassian had issues and was heading down a dark path at the time. So it was cutting a cancer from team so youth wouldn't be influenced. Still that trade was bad and would have asked for a draft pick then give one up plus an older player who was too slow for the new NHL.

Yes the Vey trade didn't work. But it was a trade to fill a development hole. A young middle six center. They tried but I don't think that low 2nd rounder changed the course of this teams future.

Miller was just signed for #1 role. The question was who would be groomed to take over and they chose Markstrom over Lack. Would say that was the better choice. And return for Lack will help rebuild.

True story:

So I'm at the local Canadian Tire, investigating new equipment that might help make the house look more festive. Big hefty fella in his early 30's is 10 feet away in the same aisle texting on his cell phone. He turns and loudly asks the Mrs, who's with him, "How do you spell 'loser'?" In a tone that suggests she's all too accustomed to this type of question, she calmly and slowly replies "L.O.S.E.R." Armed with this information, Bubba is able to finish up the obviously witty message he's been laboring over. His very next move is to step backwards into a shelf laden with glass Christmas ornaments, sending several crashing to their doom. As the young staffer sweeps up the shards, he mutters that it was a poor choice of location to put the glass decorations.

Now I have no particular reason to believe this but, for the rest of the day, I've decided I'm going to assume he was a Hawks fan.

Yeah.... different era and conference then though and he's bigger still... lol....

Though on this team you wouldn't slot him as #1LC And that's the trade you hope that Tanev plus can fetch you ... or a draft pick with lotto potential to draft need

This is before the weekend through 21 games....
Compares him to other Moosehead greats.
He'll go top 5. He's my favorite right now.

Whatchu talking about son?

At 20 years old, Nylander is taller and weights more than Brendan ever did....and he came up in the era of clutch and grab, rough and tumble hockey....?

Just got home from 'Hacksaw Ridge', holy cow, I feel for those men that fought in the two world wars.

And while I'm at it, I'm sorry for being so insensitive Don, you're not dumb.

Ok I feel better now....

This is definitely not the year to have a ton of draft picks. I would draft a lot of young kids. Hoping after 2 more years, someone turns out.
