JVR stinks and is older than our group needs. I wouldn't want him at all.
- dshiddy

JVR is pretty good considering he only gets paid like 4.25 a year and is a proven 30 goal guy who's currently scoring point per game only playing 15 minutes a night. Pretty decent top 6 winger all things considered

We are getting to that point. We can't wait 4 months every season for Baertchi to get going…we can't risk keeping Tanev and his 45 healthy games per year…we could risk keeping Hansen as he hasn't really shown massive injury-proneness just yet…but if Edler has value we need to move on too.

I with you on moving on from the Swede era…even some of the Americans need to go.

I think we only have 7-9 Canadian players dressing right now on any given night…and I'm sorry that isn't a winning formula…at least not here.

- LordHumungous

So how about Pittsburgh then with only 8 Canadians on the roster

I think that the Sedins are just slow for today's game. It's tough for them to be 1st liners look at the Rangers right now who we just beat on an off night they rebuilt in literally one or 2 seasons. They went all in for getting speedy young guys and are now way under the cap. Hey didn't tank.

If Benning is that good at identifying talent then they should be signing these fast young guys out of Russia or Europe and inserting them into the lineup next year until our top young guys become first liners or we draft a few of them.

Only $4.25m??? Burrows also scored 30 and makes that much, and we think he's massively overpaid.
JVR is nothing special, and a comparable to me would be Eberle. They don't really do much on the ice, but some how end up with points. Their points are usually when the game is out of reach, and this adds up to 50 points at the end of the year.

I wouldn't want either on my team.

I would be sickened if Canucks would ever trade and make the Leafs better . Let them rot

Burrows scored 30 what 6 years ago? How's that even comparable.. this post doesn't even make sense I'm not saying he's anything special but he's a top 6 winger who's on a decent contract.. he would be Vancouvers leading scorer..

It's funny how confidence is a key factor of winning teams. Why a losing team no matter what talent is on it won't be able to overcome this factor. Fresh starts help but their is always that element of insecurity or not believing enough that the team can do it. Whatever you want to call it the Canucks don't have it and that is what has kept them down and chasing.

NYR also have one of the best goaies in the league in any given season. They are also able to get young gifted players to want to sign with him, not just based on how good they are, but also location.

That's only a part and not the point of what is really missing is the belief that they can win.... confidence. There is try but no swagger or belief in their game. They don't shoot with authority for instance.

It's a desperation to get it right but that more often shoots them in the foot or makes them look lost at times. This is masked a lot when they are chasing games. Winning in OT is different cause they have nothing to lose mentality at that point and play with authority.

Why coaching plays a key here in getting them to believe in the system and their game. It's said as lip service and the good pros will do what the coach wants. But it's not working and they know it.

The players can try and go and execute a system but if they are missing the element of confidence and can do attitude it won't happen. Change is needed. It's more then player talent.

Interesting theory.
I'm going to stick with my analysis...they don't have enough good players that put the puck in the net.

A lot of people would be Vancouvers leading scorer...

Sorry I'm not a fan, don't think he's anything special and certainly wouldn't trade Tanev for him.

You are correct; However, as long as FA owns this teams, stupid trades like this can and will happen to try and get people paying for tickets/etc.

It's obvious FA wants a competitive team. However, what are the stupid trades that have occurred to sell the future off for the present...?

Yeah I guess if we had the best player in the world in Crosby and a Norris quality Dman in Letang we'd be marginally better lol. You can limit yourself in other areas with players of world class quality.

We don't have two players anywhere near that quality...

PFFFFT JVR for Tanev.

More Like JVR & Kapaenen or Bracco for Tanev.

Not even remotely close straight up.

Shink got his first point of the season finally.

He's playing tonight because the Flames scratched Linden Vey.
