Ivan Provorov’s Interview with Cahmpionat.com

Recorded by Alexandr Govorov after TML game
Q: Quite often this season the Flyers have had erratic games. How would you explain this?
A: Frankly, I don’t even know how to explain that. It seems that we are playing hard for 40 minutes, and then something happens and we suddenly stop playing our game. As a result we allow goals and lose games, or they equalize and we have to play extra time in a game that we should have just play to win.
Q: So, how does the team work on these errors?
A: We have been working daily with the coaching staff to eliminate these errors. We analyze video to flush out the errors and how to correct them. I hope we will be able to avoid them moving forward.
Q: Has the NHL reality been what you had expected in the beginning of the season?
A: I had had a very good training regimen last summer and was in excellent condition by the start of the camp. That definitely helped me to make the team. I have been trying to play my game and to improve from game to game. Very simple, right? (smiles)
Q: You have been afforded a lot of playing time as a rookie. Are you afraid that fatigue will be a factor at some point?
A: I do not think it has to be a concern. I have always had a lot of ice time, and that should not be a problem. Again, I had a very serious preparation last summer, so, we should see. Of course, I realize that here the skill level is higher, the pace is much faster and the game is more physical than in juniors. But I believe I am ready, especially considering my preparation for this season
Q: You practically have flawless English. Do you help Roman Lyubimov with translation?
A: Of course I do. But, it seems to me, it’s more important for him to use conversational language independently. The less he speaks Russian the better for him. He has to speak English as often as possible. Trust me, life here will make him do that (smiles). I can say that his English is rather good already and allows him to feel quite comfortable. I believe he will be improving in both English and his actions on the ice.
