No, it's that I understand that #fancy doesn't tell the whole story. He was benched for non-points related reasons and throwing up all the XvY points stats in the world isn't going to change that. Sure, we can argue that a 6.5% dip in 5v5 production is or isn't significant,* but it has nothing to do with why he sat. I never said it did. I never said he is/was struggling to produce points.

*tbh, not even 1/4 into the season it probably isn't

I wasn't arguing against the fact he was a healthy scratch with those numbers.

I was arguing that other teams have yet to figure Ghost out. Someone earlier suggest that they have. And even if teams have "figured him out," its not affecting his production.

I know that you didn't, but I believe several have suggest that his offense was part of the reason he was scratched. It was a misconception I aimed to prove wrong. I wasn't using them as reasons why he was scratched.

- YuenglingJagr

Well, anyone who thinks that clearly didn't listen to, or read, Hakstol's comments on the situation.

The #fancies still do show that no matter what the reasons are, he has a more positive effect on the team than others. *disclaimer - not relevant to the above point, just had to throw it in there*

I don't think you can argue that scratching Ghost is the right call. I think you can argue that it doesn't matter if he gets scratched for a game or two, though. That is a point that I have and will agreed with.

I am certain that nobody here is qualified enough to determine whether it was a right or wrong call. Nobody here is close enough to the team, the games, the practices, the meetings, the locker room, etc. to know what is really going on. It was the call, though.

That "figured him out, that's why he's not producing" stuff is complete nonsense

you're better than this

was Hakstol going to say...."I don't know I just figured, (frank) it, let's see if this does anything"

Eh, it's pretty clear from watching this year that something is off with his game as compared to last season. The scratch seems very sudden and out of the blue to us because we're not there. We have no franking clue what goes on there on a daily basis, but I'd be willing to bet a significant sum of money that Hakstol didn't wake up yesterday morning and randomly decide to scratch him.

eyes and stats both show he has struggled in defensive coverage and turnovers

why he was scratched is kind of a different topic at this point though so...I still love you

I agree, although I don't necessarily agree with the scratching. I understand it though.

Imo, I think Hak took a calculated gamble. He believes sitting Ghost for 1-2 games will have a greater long term affect on Ghost's and the team's success outweighing the negative short term affects felt during those 2 games. Personally, I don't agree with this assessment, but it has worked so far. Lucky or not, they got the W last night without Ghost in the lineup.

The real problem is that Ghost is one of those entitled millenials, who have never had to work for anything in their lives and have always had everything handed to them.

Alright, so just hear me out on this:

So, more than Ghost sitting, let's think about AMac coming in. Now, assuming AMac played well, who would be the one defenseman that we could scratch which would prove AMac can be a positive contributor? It would be Ghost.

So let's assume that Hak was under some sort of mind control by someone to try to make this happen, for some reasons like, oh, I don't know, proving superiority on a message board. Now, do we know anyone who likes to try to prove AMac's value to the team who has a connection (maybe an avatar) of someone who has mind control powers?

I think it's pretty clear that he did, indeed, scratch him due to an idea that seemingly popped into his head out of nowhere.

Mason will start Saturday, and Anthony Stolarz is expected to make his NHL debut in one of the upcoming back-to-back road games - Tuesday against Florida, or Wednesday against Tampa

I think I would give him the Florida game personally

Unless Mason is lights-out against TB, I'd play Stolarz in that game now that they're missing Stammer.

Couturier is another one. We should see if Colorado would swap him for Soderberg who is a mature, 40+ point 2C.

Trade them both for Jagr, the last player in the NHL who served during World War II.
