Not awful but seems to be trying to hard to force something a lot of the time. He is clearly frustrated since he is drawing a lot of attention when out there. Just not finding open ice but he at least is covering his own end and battling.

That's the beauty with the roster through management is starting to build. Matthews can be poop, Brownie and Mitch have it covered tonight. There will be plenty of times Matthews bails the team out.

Carrick is ok and will get better we hope, don't mind him, and Nielson yeah he is gonna be solid but not right now. I think bottom pairings Valiev, Loov, Carrick isn't bad. I still think we need to get a solid second pairing stay at home guy though and or someone better than Gardiner.

Still seems to over challenge at times a bit, don't know if its the back boards are more lively in Toronto than Anaheim but he seems to get caught too far out still a little.
