If Laine does end up being the categorically better player though, the fun part will be the other teams fans will gleefully tell you how stupid 'you' are for making that stupid pick.
Mathews being the slam dunk consensus #1 pick will not be considered in any argument. - robin_steele264
... exactly why I have always reminded people that Edmonton took the consensus #1 pick when they had the chance. It did not always work out, but they did what pretty much any team would have done.

Hall/Seguin was the closest. But Most gave Hall the edge.
Yak was head and shoulders above everyone which seems impossible now. |

Always pick the centre.
I actually would've drafted Galchenyuk, but whatever...nobody ever wants my opinion... |

A few.
And constantly hear how they should trade some top end talent for defensive help....
Then do it and it's an even dumber move.

Especially when Bozak is your number 1 and you haven't sniffed a true #1 center since Sundin left. |

The way that Bozak is playing now (with Marner), I think he still might be. |

Very fortunate to have him picked a few years before the rebuild kicked off.

He seems to have a knack of doing what he has to - not wanting to let go of that spot.
We were talking at work today...we agreed that usually it is the rookie that has to learn to play with the two vets...in this case, I think it was the other way around. |
