Because they said after the draft that the player they would have taken at 24 was available at 34. So they would have taken Dermott and not gotten Bracco and the Dzierkels. They may have made a mistake with not taking Konecny, but we can't know that yet. People should stop making assumptions about a prospect's projection after 15 games. Dermott could be better. Konecny could be the end all be all that is a hockey player. Who knows. The Leafs had a plan and they stuck with it. I don't fault them for that.

Bozie is many things (good defensively is not one), but he is a guy with a well-sustained high shooting %. Having a set-up guy like Marner helps, especially as his line is no longer matched against top lines (as it was before).
