I think Couturier is in a dark place. Probably the darkest it’s ever been. He's sad and down and out and he asks himself why did this have to happen. It’s in this moment he finds out who he really is and what he's really about.
And look at it this way. Everyone wants Couturier to have a more offensive mind set. That means more risks in pushing the puck or trying to make things happen. His line has probably been the most consistent threat every night.
If Couturier was put on the market how many teams would be interested in him? - J35Bacher
Couturier's turnovers are not due to taking more risks, or having an offensive mindset. Most of his poor turnovers have been on the defensive zone. Criticizing Couturier's current level play, is not the same as saying he's not a good player, or he wouldn't have value in a trade.
Literally your only argument for saying he sucks is that he doesn't have a bunch of PP points, even though no one on the team who doesn't spend a lot of time on the top PP unit does.
Honestly, I don't give a (frank) is he has a 100:1 shot differential ratio if he's not putting up tangible offensive numbers relative to those by opposing players when he's on the ice.
But not being on the top PP unit like Giroux/Voracek/Simmonds does hinder that, to an extent.
I would like to say I was totally wrong about Weise. I thought he would bring more of an edge and create a little havoc on the fore-check. He has been useless this season.
He seems to be playing like those grinder types that think they are more scorer than they are.

It's almost time for him to use his gingerness to steal a soul

I thought the same about Weise, now not so much. Not sure he'd draw much on the trade market either.

Only 20% of the season has been played. Don't worry he's on his way to 15 goals. Book it.

He's not even getting many good scoring chances, nor is he creating them or distributing them for his teammates. Konecny and Voracek are carrying him at this point of the season.

Nonsense, his team shot differential for versus against while he's on the ice are proof that he has been a very good player this year.
But no, you're absolutely right. Anyone who can actually see who is creating the chances on that line can draw that conclusion as opposed to those who are more concerned with shot differential data as the primary way to evaluate a player.

Over a longer period, dominating in shot attempts and chances will turn into points. In terms of offense, we are literally just having the same argument from a year ago when Couturier had strong possession numbers but they didn't translate into points until late November.
Couturier not playing up to what people have hoped or the goalies giving up soft goals every game?
If this goes on for the season do any of the goalies get resigned? - J35Bacher
The goalies have been the biggest problem. I think Couturier's struggles are right behind them, though. Just because it's not the biggest concern doesn't mean that it's not a big one as well.

in 15-16 thru 17 games, Couturier had 4 points, and was -7. - Feanor
Well once he starts turning those chances into tangible offense for himself, as well as stopping the opposition from producing tangible offense, then I'll say he's playing better.
Also, more shot attempts for than against does not equal more goals for than against because we do not live in an ideal world.
Why do you still pretend that you don't enjoy the Flyers losing? - Feanor
Like a certain California-based poster who frequents this board, he's only truly happy when he has stuff to be miserable and female dog about. He wouldn't enjoy himself nearly as much if the team was playing well, although he'd do his best to find and expose any/all flaws.

It's the way of the world. Everything needs to be female doged and complained about.

All most of us have said is to this point in this season he has sucked offensively and defensively ..
Oh hey great he has the highest shot attempts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If that is good enough for you then rock on.
Do I think he will be this bad on both sides of the puck at the end of the season, based on his previous play over the past years no I do not but to this point he isnt doing much other then struggling.
