82 point pace is not even close to playoff material
There is no time left to get their ish in gear.
Thanksgiving looms

Seems to be their usual m.o. Struggle until late January, then play like the best team in the league down the stretch.

Hanzal is not a better player than Couturier is, in any manner.
- MJL

Well not exactly. For the most part, you are correct. However he is better on faceoffs than Coots and a bit stronger physically.

Didn't say I liked it. Would much rather see them play consistently well all season long.

And a better skater. But that isn't saying much. Couturier skates like he's pulling an anvil.

Didn't say you did. And I agree.

I just think it's a little too far into the season to be still "trying to find themselves" or whatever psuedo-positive cliche is being kicked around today.

That's not even close to being accurate.

I'll give you faceoffs, but not physically. Couturier is a horse physically. He's just playing like crap right now. Terrible offensively, and poor puck management.

It's not? Couturier is a good skater?

Well, if you want to play that game, they should have drafted Scott Stevens over Ron Sutter in 1982 and Shea Weber over both Carter and Richards in 2003.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda....

I'm sure some call up, playing his 12th NHL game ever, will score his first goal that night.

Couturier and Giroux are producing at the same rate 5 on 5. So really we need a new 1C to move them both down the lineup. Why not move Cousins up there?

http://stats.hockeyanalys...p=1&sort=PCT&sortdir=DESC

I'm going to go strictly by what's happened this year and just ignore the entirety of last season for unspecified reasons.

Except the game isnt just played at 5 on 5. The facts are what they are , to this point in the season he has not been good enough offensively or defensively tbh.

1. 10th on the team in scoring
2. Being outscored by 3 defensemen with one of them being Manning.
3. -5

Prior to this season so far I had no issues with what he brought to the team because he was a good shutdown player that produced. So far this year he is neither of those things..If you are happy with his play and various turnovers this year then your just as blind as people who say he will never be more then a 3rd line shutdown player.

Im not one of those people but he has had a bad season and isnt producing on either side of the puck.

cant really disagree with any of that. Soft goals are getting out of hand. Nothing to loose at all by giving A.S. a start.
- 3flyerkids

Yes, I'm sure Stolarz stops the speedy wraparound and makes as the 5-6 other 10-bell saves than Mason made in the first 55 minutes.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to deny that Coots has been struggling. He doesn't seem nearly as strong on the puck as he was last year, I have to wonder if he's nursing an undisclosed injury. He and G are so valuable to this lineup, that I have to think they'd need to be on life support before Hak would take either out of the lineup.

Come on now, you know that nothing matters but 5v5 shot attempt differentials.

Anyone want to cry?

Look at +/- for G, Jake, Schenn, Coots and Wayne.

I think it's time to totally clean house. Get rid of Giroux, Simmonds, Couturier, and Schenn, as they're lazy, overpaid bums. Bring up some guys from the Phantoms who I'm sure will be better fits. Then send off the turnover machine known as Ghost, the walking suspension named Gudas, and soon-to-be UFA Del Zotto, and bring up Brennan, Morin, and Sanheim. Get rid of Mason and Neuvirth while they still have any value left at all.

Problems solved.
