What about the time he threatened to punch me in the face through my wind shield and urinate on my crying wife?

Read's gotta be stronger on his skates there. I guess Read shot his load the first two weeks of the season.
- Just5

Stronger on his skates there? Why, so the next time he gets tackled and pile driven into the ice, he can do what?

"Goaltending challenges are not easy for head coaches. But the Flyer players are complimentary of Dave Hakstol. “Never gets rattled. Always calm,” said one player, motioning his hand palm-down along a straight line to illustrate the coach’s even keel. “That’s important with this team,” another said. “We’ve got some pretty emotional guys.” Win or lose, that’s an entertaining team to watch."

I guess the players like Varsity

Any suggestions? I'm not sure what he could do outside of calling up more young guys or making a big trade(s). I don't see any deals on the horizon that would solve our problems without creating another problem at this point in time.
- Mordecai

Why does the trade have to be big?

Love ya man, but they also said good things about Berube and basically every fired coach I can remember.

I don't see him getting fired right now.

The team D and goalie play has been awful.

Personal decisions are often quite questionable but the team play has been way more of a factor then the coaching, imho

Any suggestions? I don't see any smaller deals making us exceptionally better. I'm not really a fan of trading away 1sts but I would think about it this year.

If you are targeting a player in particular I could give you a better answer but generally I'm not sure what Hexy can do right now that would provide a significant improvement without giving up a valuable piece. I was one of the few who wanted to trade Brayden but as of right now you're not going to get fair value for him without adding something else.

Btw I accidentally flagged your post

Only a matter of time. Nature of the job.

I think he gets this year but if next season is similar bye bye.

I don't see any reason nor have I have seen a reason to trade Brayden Schenn. The bottom six needs work or at least restructure. I don't see why we would to make a big trade to get some reliable bottom six players. At least one.

I don't usually say anything remotely like this about a coach I find generally competent but I can take that roster and produce more favourable OT matchups without finishing my PB&J
- mayorofangrytown

There's just instances that bug me. OT is one. Using Couturier-or any lefty shot-in the Giroux spot along the LW boards on PP2. The abundance of VandeVelde...nitpicky stuff

Hakstol is a very smart coach who does all the complicated things right. He has his little 4th line pets that won't be here long. Every coach has them, and that doesn't make it less frustrating, but it's pretty ubiquitous across the league. His systems are top notch, he usually comes around eventually on things, and he always has a very presence and resolute attitude.

He signed a 5 year deal. He's not going anywhere. Hextall didn't hire Berube, and the guy had neither the hockey mind nor the commanding presence of Hakstol. A lot can change, but Hakstol has been nothing but impressive. He took the 7th worst team and made them a playoff team despite down years from his two best players, a hodge podge defense, and a nothing bottom 6. The only thing holding them back right now is league worst goaltending that he has no control over and is insurmountable -- and they're still holding on. The only question for me right now, and a lot can change, is how long he's here after that 5 year deal.

"some reliable bottom six players" is probably going to cost us a good bit.

Good players don't get traded away for nothing unless management is incompetent.

Again, I could give you a better answer if I knew who you were targeting

Hextall traded Vinny and Schenn mid-season last year. What a celebratory day that was.

As good as the TK - Coots - Voracek line has been, it may be time to break them up to create some more balance in the top-6.
- JFlyers00

11-14-93 has been very good but i will always like Voracek with Giroux more
