I have a question and I know some of you might bark at me like an angry dog but some of you might have an answer for me. What does Ron Hextall do IN SEASON to improve his team when his team isn't playing to standards? We know that he's pretty proactive in the offseason but it's his third season as GM, what does Hexy do outside of give his coach absolute faith when things aren't going great?

Any suggestions? I'm not sure what he could do outside of calling up more young guys or making a big trade(s). I don't see any deals on the horizon that would solve our problems without creating another problem at this point in time.

Jesus, I had no idea it was this bad. How could Hakstol not know this? It all smacks of playing to not lose. Don't get scored on, which is akin to saying don't take any chances to score either, so that the Big Boys can get rested and do everything. That factoid needs to be more widely circulated in Flyerdom.

I think Konecny should absolutely be getting OT time, but I do mildly understand Hakstol's reservations defensively. But 3 on 3 defense is much different. It's just a pure skill and speed fest. Provorov tonight had a whale of a game and Streit was pretty dog poop again. Streit cannot be relied on defensively at all. And yet, which one gets minutes in OT? Streit. I don't think it has anything to do with defense. I think Hakstol just prefers the college seniors, who in his eyes are "reliable." Provorov is reliable as (frank) haha. I don't get it.

IDK, but one theory is Hakstol uses the other 3 man units to spell the Big 3 and tries to create mismatches when they're fresh. Me, I'd rather have 3 units that can end the damn game on a positive note than tossing Bellemare or Streit out there.

Sorry for the lateness of the response, but while I do get Hakstol's defensive concerns, Gostisbehere was on the 3 on 3 from the get go last year.

IDK, but one theory is Hakstol uses the other 3 man units to spell the Big 3 and tries to create mismatches when they're fresh. Me, I'd rather have 3 units that can end the damn game on a positive note than tossing Bellemare or Streit out there.

Yeah, When I was looking at the sets on the ice last night I was like WTF? Streit is two years past being effective in OT. Bellemare, as much as I like him, doesn't have the speed to play that kid of game.

It's hard enough to regain possession when you have your best skaters out.

I don't usually say anything remotely like this about a coach I find generally competent but I can take that roster and produce more favourable OT matchups without finishing my PB&J
