Great idea to keep the pressure cooker on high for the kid. Excellent idea.
- Beatle_john

Well, he isn't an ordinary kid. Though it's kind of funny, Leaf fans have been waiting for years for an impact rookie.....and now we got 3. Luckily, Marner is taking all the pressure off, so there's that.

I don't doubt for a second that Matthews is going to be great. Though, like I said yesterday, he looks alot like Jimmy Carson haha

Dear Dozzer & Leafman,

My apologies in advance for trying to engaged in actual hockey talk in the Canucks' thread. It would appear that level of frustration, denial and sensitivity over there is too much for them to handle and engage in any form of rational dialogue.

Sincerest apologies.

I got banned as well last week by Leafman by making a comment in the Canucks thread.
Asking them who in their opinion was the best prospect in 2017 draft wasn't a proper question apparently.
After that the insults started to come in, and I made a sensitive comment --> Leafman banhammer

I would like to thank the Maple Leafs for contributing to the Subban tracker sweepstakes by making him finish with 0 points and -3.

I got told by an advanced stats advocate yesterday that the point of advanced stats is that they don't have any bias, but eyes do.

and yet his Corsi was 68%...ya i wonder if there's glitches in these accounting methods.

I barely even noticed him out there other than a couple plays.

My point yesterday was that advanced stats seem to suggest that Marincin is a good player, but anyone who watches him play could see that he is not.

Then he dropped that bias line on me.

That's about the point where I refused to argue further. The problem with idiots is that they drag you down to their level where they have all the experience.

Also...Van last night only had 1 guy with a Corsi under 50 and they lose 7-2

Rangers only had 1 guy over 50.

Nothing.
Vancouver 'fans' on these boards are the worst.
Rather have a discussion with Spatso than with some of the guys in that thread.
You were objectively stating some points and you get a 'f you ' and a 'laine is better than matthews' as responses .. really??!

His team lost badly, he was on the ice for half the goals and didn't add offensive numbers with a 68% corsi huh?

There's only one logical conclusion to this.

He had a great game.

Corsi works if you track a player over a 20 year career maybe.

Maybe.

It's hard to tell because they didn't calculate this back in the day....

Maybe if they did we'd see guys like Lemieux or Sakic having terrible corsi and we'd call it bullpoop already.

coris close is a better stat - corsi with the game tied or +/- one goal.

marner's line was dominate according to that.

I found that new stats that agrees with that.

It's called goals/assist/points.

It's insane, whenever a player scores plenty, you can tell he had a good game. IT NEVER FAILS.
