He is. Though I'd be wary about whether he can maintain that shooting percentage of 24% (for comparison, Stamkos - typically the leader here - is at 17%, consistent with his usual sh%). What I do like about Matthews is that he is up there in shots (T4 with Ovie and Seguin), and he's likely to improve upon his 9.5% (which is still quite good). - lumlums
He's only 3.5% since the 1st game...he's got to start scoring soon...but he's had quite a few shots lately from low percent scoring spots.
Almost every goal last night scored from within 6 feet of the net. |

I see more of Shawn Matthias without the size. - mykokes
Hyman's way faster...it's about the only thing that's keeping him on that line. IMO
I find more and more he's reminding me of DC71...gets the puck...falls down. |

Yeah - he's had signs of getting into those areas (and that's typically when he's been ringing the posts), but needs to do so more consistently to really make a difference. |

Oh well...still like his game....he could have a little more fire maybe...but I guess that's just him...no urgency...just goes about his game. |

Man Marner has been impressing the poop out of me this year. I just watched the recap of the game + a few other highlights. For being "a small child who will be killed in the NHL" he took so many hits last night in order to make plays and multiple ended up in goals. Good on him. |

Hopefully he has an even better game tomorrow night considering I'll be there getting loaded in a suite.

To whoever it was, Maximus? that said Marner would be in the NHL this year and be great....You were right. Tell your sister, that you were right. - mykokes
I'm very pleased Leafs took him in the draft over Hanifin; I think he'll pan out to be 2nd best player of that draft (nothing against Eichel).
Marner is so great to watch; in the end there are a lot of great players in the league, but there are only a few that bring such a high 'entertainment' level as Marner.
when a player with offensive qualities as Marner makes you look forward to see him showcasing his defensive abilities, you know you've got a special player on your hands.
My favorite player in NHL was Datsyuk, and I'm hoping Marner can pan out to something similar to him |
