Too much talent (and too many other train wrecks) for that to happen. People are getting way too upset about a 5 game stretch.

Look at our next 10-15 games. How many do you think we win? This is going to get really bad, really quick.

(shrug) we've beaten teams we weren't supposed to beat and lost to teams we weren't supposed to lose to.

I think what people are forgetting is that it isn't like we are getting blown out. Had we put up two goals a game over the last couple of weeks things would actually seem ok (considering the injuries). The team has actually played some decent defense.

No, not nearly enough.

30th in scoring through 16 games. Not 5, 16.

O'Reilly has missed, what 2?

We are going to be eliminated from the postseason by game 25.

I would not be shocked if we finished dead last this season
- homiedclown

They will go on a late season run like they usually do. Bottom six to eight is likely where they will fall when the season ends in my opinion.

Guarantee, we will win at least 3 games we have no business doing so in that stretch.
We will have something around a .500 record in that stretch. (If people return to the lineup)

He hasn't been healthy all season though. Hence why he is out now.

Too much talent to finish last - that was the whole statement. Certainly not enough talent to overcome 5 quality players being out of the lineup.

Except they can't. That's why everyones upset.

This team has become incredibly defensive with those injuries. Hardly any offensive push from the blueline except for 55 on occasion. It may seem like they're good defensively but as soon as they try to get offensive they fall apart.

That's the problem... we can't score two goals a game. We can score 1 and that's IF we get a PP goal.

The Sabres are a total mess and they have made little to no improvement in the last 10 years...

Non existent transition game has resulted in this team just icing the puck to get out of its own end.

Disagree. We aren't just going to become fully healthy and start winning a ton of games. There will be other injuries, and this team has proven it is as deep as a puddle

10 years ago we went to the Eastern Conference Finals. They also finished first in their division since then.

You're frustrated, I get it. But the level of suck that we've dealt with has only been the last 3-4 years.

I cant believe they chose to extend TM before seeing the team come together. Were they afraid of losing him or something

This is true, but there last 3-4 years are bad. REALLY BAD, and i thought it was going to start looking better..... i was wrong. Remember we all said how it would be ok to lose 6-5,5-4 games. Yeah umm we cant score 4 in a 3 game stretch.

Thirty thoughts

5. When Evander Kane returned to the lineup last week against Ottawa, attendance was high in the scouting section. Sometimes that happens when there’s a light schedule — there were only three games that night, so turnout is higher than normal. But there’s little doubt Kane will be watched closely, because the Sabres are willing to move him. So far, there hasn’t been an offer worth getting excited about, so unless Buffalo wants to do this for pennies on the dollar, it’s a waiting game.

6. Vancouver’s interest is well-known, but, again, I don’t think the Canucks have offered much. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo has reported the Wild’s interest. The two GMs — Chuck Fletcher and Tim Murray — are tight. I’m not comfortable being on a different side than the incredibly plugged-in Russo, but I’m getting denials on that one. I do think Minnesota is looking to add a forward, though.

If nothing else, I like that hes willing to admit the move was a mistake and hes open to moving players even though he really liked them in ottawa.

Edit: even the freaking canucks wont pay up for him

Last night felt different to me in the first two periods. If some of those pipes had bounced the other way, we could have had 4 ourselves.

But I really hated how they all ran away to cry with towels over their heads when the body blows started coming around.

Thought this was interesting too...

7. Speaking of forwards, very curious to see where things go with Columbus and Brandon Saad. He’s fifth on the Blue Jackets in scoring, fifth in time-on-ice among forwards. But he was almost a healthy scratch last week and, somewhere, the team wants to ease its cap crunch. Chicago investigated it last season, but couldn’t make things work. He’s 24 years old and has a lot to give.

I know. It just drives me crazy when people over-exaggerate things that much. It's been hard for all of us. There's no need to make it seem 3x worse than it's actually been.

It is a big problem. My point is that people shouldn't be swallowing swords over a 5 game stretch where we were missing significant pieces. We didn't have the talent or maturity to overcome that kind of talent loss.

Yeesh... That'd be a big contract to trade away.
