what's funny is that three of the losses the Rangers have this season (vs the Red Wings, Blues and and Carolina) the Rangers dominated the possession stats

personally I would have rather won those games and not the possession, but that's just me

- jimbro83

Actual wins really don't mean anything, only numbers matter.

Not obsessed with them, just pointing out a potential issue down the road. You all know I call it as I see it and in this case, feel it could be a concern in the future.

That wasn't directed at you Jan. It certainly could become a problem if the Rangers scoring starts to tail off. That was directed towards bean counters like Tanner, who it seems, would rather his team lose but have great possession stats. Advanced metrics is where it's at.

there's a lot of overreaction to the 3rd period vs the Flames all over the place, to me it's absurd

last night, what are you gonna do, two major parts of their offense were suddenly sidelined, they were playing 2nd game in two nights, playing against Connor McDavid and figured out a way to win

Just like it was said in the last thread people would rather have a hundred prospects than a actual GOOD team right NOW.

With the backup in net too. Good times in Rangers land, for those who aren't miserable (frank)s.

he's incredible, I don't know if he has the hands of Gretzky though, but he has the speed of Paul Coffey for sure

Jan, and I guess this is open to everyone - are you a little worried with Buch and his back issues? He is kind of young to be having these issues, has this been a chronic thing with him?

I am concerned solely knowing that back issues are something that can derail promising futures based on athletes in other sports having back issues.

Do we know the nature of what is bothering him, muscle tightness, spasms, or something more serious which might require surgery?

Was he having issues in the K? I didn't follow him over there. If he didn't, might have something to due with the extra weight and the Rangers training regiment just not agreeing with him.

Yes, - but concerning. Part of it could end become remediate as he gets stronger since it's possible that the issue is due to him adapting to the NHL. Hopefully it's not a disc or nerve issue and just a muscle or soft tissue one.

I see they are listing it as spasms but we know how truthful teams are about injuries. It just worries me that we have a promising young core and the realization that if you do not win now, nothing is promised in the future because of injuries or other circumstances that are unforeseen.

I don't think it's a reason to be concerned right now. He did participate in warm ups and then decided after that he couldn't go, so I don't think it's something THAT serious.

Depends on what your definition of serious is. It might not be serious in the sense that it would be something that could shorten his career, or need major back surgery, but could be a constant nagging thing that takes him out for a bunch of games a season.

I wouldn't worry about it too much now, but if this becomes a pattern throughout the season, that would suck.

I read that Kreider took a non-medical leave of absence to be with his family as they had reported a stalker. Some guy in a Kreider jersey with no pants on named Matt who seemed to be extremely intoxicated and kept smashing on their window asking for Chris' baby pictures
