Problem is besides the last 15 games or so last yesr, Kane actually brought down Eichel and O'Reilly's scoring when he was on there lines last year.

Kane is not a guy who developed chemistry with really anyone over his career.

- sbroads24

Serious question cause I thought they played really well together once that line got put together: how many more than 15 games did they play as a line?

Reinhart is 21. Matthews is 18, and is still better than Reinhart now and I'm not sure it's remotely close
- sbroads24

I'm not comparing the 2 players though, am I?
What I am doing...
is comparing the attitude when our guy struggles vs when other guys do so

We see Reinhart every night,
So it seems so much worse

He'll be fine
Everyone was thrilled with his production last year, right?
It's not like the kid suddenly forgot how to play hockey

That makes his point even more so. Matthews is way better and even he's having difficulties. So let's not rag on Reinhart too hard.
- Wetbandit1

His difficulties are 12 points in his first 15 NHL games.

So if Reinhart scores 2 in 15,
Then the sky is falling

But if Matthews scores 2 in 14,
No big deal he'll break out of it

Stop being so dramatic
Reinhart had a really nice rookie year
He'll rebound & be a good player for us
He's just not gonna be "Kucherov"
If that's what you're expecting,
Then you're gonna be very disappointed

- jdfitz77

I am expecting him to perform like The projected forward we picked and we tanked for

I'm expecting him to make players around him better that's why we drafted him

I'm expecting him to show up every game when barkov is not putting up points you still notice him

Honest question. Do you see Reinhart ever being a top line NHL center? I don't think he is close to that type of player.

That's what we thought we drafted. That's what people are disappointed about

23/15/9? I'm not sure to be honest.

In the beginning of the year that line with 15/9 struggled. Then 9/90 struggled for a while.

Eichel and Kane played maybe 10-12 games at the beginning of the season together. And then not a lot for a long time before near the end of the season.

Other than his spectacular first game he hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire.

Up to 6 (frank)ing guys on IR on my hockey team:

Athanasiou, Jannik Hansen, Seidenberg(new addition), Tanev, Ennis, and Parise who's been out for a few weeks and will likely be out for a little yet. And Myers is hurt again.

He's averaged something like 4+ shots per game. His production will start to skyrocket if he keeps that pace

I thought we were getting a 20-25goals with 50+assists guy,
Who would play good in all areas of the ice

BUT...
he hasn't been playing Center at all except for a couple games here n there
Expecting him to "make those around him better" when he's playing a new position & doesn't have the puck on his stick as much...
idk if that's reasonable?

What would your answer to that question have been before this season started?

We tanked for McDavid, not Reinhart. Yes we "tanked" to get a good player in Reinhart's year, but the main target was the next year with McDavid and Eichel.

How do you know why we drafted him? Also NHL players are really hard to project, that's why the miss rate is so ridiculously high.

FTFY

Bottom line is he's struggling. He'll be fine, but you can't deny that he's not struggling. Also I'd be keen on seeing a shot chart for him to see where the shots are coming from.

It wasn't for "Reinhart" though...
There was no specific player

And Regardless what Murray said,
If we picked 1st then it was gonna be Ekblad
Or trade down

We didn't tank specifically for Reinhart like we did for McDavid. If McDavid wasn't coming up the next year I highly doubt we tank as hard as we did. Because it's really hard to pull out of a tank as we're seeing first hand now. That's my point.

We had no center depth at that time and a loaded prospect pool of defenseman he was going to take a center It's like passing on a quarterback when you don't have one

He's really not though. He has 12 points, is a 55% possession player, and has a PDO of 94 which is ridiculously low.

If he wasn't producing shots or scoring chances, or was a drag on possession, I'd say he's struggling

Reinhart has impressive possession numbers, but isn't generating close to the amount of potential scoring he should

They didn't specifically tank they still signed a bunch of free agents to help with scoring ..

Once things started going south then they just started tanking and getting rid of everybody

We had a way worse roster in 2014 Then the 2015

Has anybody ever let YT pick the next video to play? You get to some really weird places after just 2 or 3 auto-pick videos.

You just made my point. They pulled a TO from the McDavid year and started late. They ended up getting there though, but they were trying to win at first, but when they realized it wasn't working they tanked, and fired Darcy, they tried to get the best player they could. McDavid was the target right from that moment. Whoever they got that year was a bonus.

But they started the tank for 2014 when they traded Vanek away The goal was to get to topline centers I believe
