Might be time to sit Ghost for a game or two. I was very encouraged by Provorov. Solid game for him.
- Dkos

I think Ghost brings too much from a PP and offensive perspective to sit him. I mean go figure a young dman in hopefully what would be his first full year is struggling..

There's internet rumors that German Rubtsov is going to leave his KHL/MHL team after the tourney and head to Chicoutimi and play in the Q.

This is encouraging, because he'd get more steady ice time and a steady developmental path. He's bouncing between being a beast in the MHL to a 4th liner with his KHL team right now

Apparently back to backs are the best!

I honestly think this is one of the things killing this team in the early going. A mixture of possible looking past teams like Toronto and on to the much tougher game the next day at home. The third period on Friday was a full blown meltdown after having not a great game by the defense to begin with.

I'm hating the line up most nights. Last night somewhat resembled what our team should be but no excuse for Raffl to sit or Schenn centering the third line. Even with the goaltending struggles, I wasn't liking how the goalies were being handled.

Our best players have to be our best players and the coach has got to let them

Amazing how everything changes when the goalie makes a couple of big saves.
- BiggE

He was great last night!
Shots stuck to him without big rebounds and his positioning was much better
There was a goal vs the Leafs (mancarin?) where he was way over to the left side of the net and the puck went in the middle of the net.
Didn't help that at least 3 Flyers were screening him on it but he seemed way out of position.
So much of it is mental.
They need him solid to have a chance, because when Gudas and Manning are your top pair, and with Ghost and MDZ struggling defensively they are going to give up a lot of chances.
Not trying to be too critical of Gudas and Manning, they've been fine, but if they have to face top lines every night, well they are going to have some tough moments.

The D is still a work in progress. Love all the goals they are scoring though.

In all seriousness, this is good news if he leaves. Wonder if this will change his ability to join the Flyers earlier than expected. Could be a huge opportunity at 3C for him if he can prove capable.

Wonder if more guys are going to start jumping ship if they aren't guaranteed top 6 minutes in the KHL. Coaches are less inclined to help much with development for guys who are being developed for other teams. This has been a problem for NBA guys overseas too.

If Neuvirth misses a few weeks, it may be a blessing in disguise for the team. Mason could end up getting a ton of starts, which should help him work his way into form. Last night was a nice step forward for him. Would like to see the team ride him for a little while now.

I read he was actually eligible to play in the AHL now, because he was drafted out of Russia.

Bold strategy by Hak to keep Giroux and Jake on the bench for the final 1:15 of the game
- PhillySportsGuy

giroux is the most negative player on the team so it makes sense

I think that was the plan anyway, to let him play for a stretch.

But with the 3rd period in Toronto, and then say Neuvy played lights out last night, who knows what could have happened.

Now there is no other option.

I wonder about Stolarz getting called up. I think he needs to be playing games in the AHL and not watching Mason from the bench right now.

THIS JUST IN: In what is barely his 100th NHL game, Flyers D Shayne Suxisbehere has a stretch of down games. Team to execute him. More to come.

Unless you think the player is in a bad mental state, and sitting out would benefit him, you let him play through his struggles.

They could give Stolarz a start or two. It really depends on how long Neuvirth is out. If it's two weeks, they probably won't play him.

It's maddening. I'm fine if he stays in Russia, but I want him to get a load of minutes. But when he's in the KHL, he's getting 4th line, garbage minutes. One game he played under 2 minutes. That's not good for him at this stage.

If he comes to Chicoutimi, he's gonna play a ton. They're not a really good offensive team and he'd probably be used in all situations.

Other good news is Mikhail Vorobyov is looking like the probable number 1 center for Russia in the WJC.

I don't think he'd be a top 6 player on the Phantoms right now anyway. But I believe he's ahl eligible next year.

Even though LV is doing well behind Stolarz...
Maybe we get a Murray type of callup with AS
He can give that youthful injection to Mase.
We go on a tear lowering the sv% above 900 and GA under 2.33
One can dream!

I think he'd be top 6 next season though. I also think they'd plan things differently if he was guaranteed to come over. They'd put him in a position to get heavy minutes and they'd get him into their development system a year earlier than most teams can

I don't disagree. My only point was the q makes more sense for him this year. I feel like a youth movement at the nhl is coming next year where we could see as many as 5 young guys come up verse this year's team. Assuming they don't make it this year of course. That will clear up a lot of space in the ahl for more incoming prospects. I also don't think we retain quite as many ahl vets if we have more prospects in the ahl. I know lindblom for example should be there next year.
