just never shone. never saw him as a star. just seemed like ahl was too low a level for him and he needed to go to th nhl. and when you make that transition you point production will drop. i was expecting a 3rd liner at best. just my opinion - Mandree85
I have a hard time saying that a player (rookie) who led his team in scoring didn't stand out.
Every time I watched Marlies he stood out.
He's on the 3rd line now, and he's doing well. What more did you expect.

Hopefully the threat of losing a quality D to expansion draft will force some teams with more depth on the blue line to move some players for younger forwards that are exempt from the draft. That scenario plays into the Leafs area of strength quite nicely. - magmoo
I'd rather go this route or free agency. Unless the Leafs can trade their lesser prospects/youth with a pick or two. I see no point in trading a Nylander for D help. Patience. Build within. Keep the high picks. That's the plan. Nothing should change that.

He's never been seen as a star?
He's gonna be a 3rd line scorer, 2nd line filler. Just like your expectations.

last season some people posting her at hockey buzz. you couldn't go more than two or three pages without someone busting a nut over him - Mandree85
Wtf. I don't think so man.
I don't see the issue here. The guy was a 5th round pick. Won a few awards and excelled at every level he's played at. Why shouldn't fans be happy and excited about a 5th round pick turning into an NHLer. That's how teams become good. Draft elite talent high and add players in the later rounds of depth. Get over it. He's got what 10 points in 21 nhl games? Pretty good imo for a bottom 6 guy who is still young.

Hes actually saved a couple goals from getting scored which probably would of cost us a win.
