I suspect all that means is the fan base gets ahead of the development curve and presses prematurely for better team results.

Other than for the screw up on Laine the Leafs are making great moves. But, it is not helpful when the Hockey News and other Toronto based voices insist the Leafs are playoff ready.it takes time before it gets better.

I didn't read all the posts, but someone is actually complaining about Matthews? Wow this is what other fan basses talk about, toronto expecting a saviour? And then ruining him!the problem is that he's been moved to the 2nd line! he was getting his points playing 3rd line duties! Against lesser dmen

As for this Lainey vs Matthews thing, when they were drafted I said that Lainey would get more cookies. He has better players surrounding him, but when rebuilding ,you always go for the franchise center. All the teams would of drafted Matthews first except possibly Pittsburgh and Edmonton.That being said sit back and enjoy it's going to be a long ride.

Ya...if Hockeybuzz ruins them...they should be looking for a new career.

But it's ok to bash JVR/Bozak/Polak/Hunwick/Gardiner etc etc...but don't dare post any talk about Matthews/Marner/Nylander.

I think you are close. I think that teams focus on him now. It is tough to say what line he is on exactly. The opponents adjusted, now he has to also... and a little puck luck would be nice.
