Hyperbole, ridiculous analogies, and putting words in someone's mouth is an awesome way to make your point. - Aetherial
And yet the only point you can make is that everyone is wearing blue goggles and he's actually soft even though a big part of his game is holding onto the puck or going to the front of the net
Take the L and move on, you aren't convincing anyone. |

Funnier is that you mentioned a host of guys I haven't even talked about.
Why should I bother saying you are wrong when you post something so stupid.
So, am I wrong about his performance lately? - Aetherial
When (if) they reach the NHL, you will just do the same. Highlight any "fault" while ignoring any strong play because it didn't end in a goal.
Likewise.
Yes you are. |

I have never argued or believed otherwise. It constantly amazes me how Leafs fans have their precious little babies that no-one can criticize or even point out poor play or lack of results.
Clearly Matthews is the best player in the game already, and it is all bad luck.
It could not possibly be that he is (frank)ing lost out there and having problems adjusting.

So, you are questioning my arguments, and fighting back with stuff I have not said yet?
Solid man, you're doing great!
By the way... Andersen still is not very good. He had a couple average games and the got the tongue bath of his life from a fan base starved for even average goaltending the last how ever many years. But yeah I was wrong there too.

watch him play, no goggles.
Lots of fancy stick work and floating around and nearly nothing in the dirty areas.
Then watch Marner.
Then watch Nylander... if you can even find Nylander. - Aetherial

I am watching him more closely than any Leaf. I see a lot of skill and potential, I do not see "strong play".
Like I said, watch Marner play, and watch Matthews. There is a world of difference the last few weeks.

Constantly complaining about how a 19 year rookie isn't the perfect player and not scoring despite playing well is solid analysis. Why haven't TSN reached out to you, yet?
Andersen has played fine (LA game not withstanding) for the past few games, but if it makes you feel comfortable to always being right (even if you're not) then you can believe whatever you want to. |

Yeah that complaining is CONSTANT I tell you ... CONSTANT!
I never ever said in the past 2 days I would still take him over Laine. I never said within the past 2 days, that he was going to be a beast of a 2-way center some day ...
Naw, we'll go with your narrative.
So now you are making points with stuff I have no said, and ignoring half of what I have said. That's awesome!
How come people are willing to recognize he is a rookie, but not willing to hear that his game has some weaknesses and lash out when someone points it out?
I never credited Nylander with great play when he was looking like the best of the 3. I never complimented Marner. I never credited Kadri with being the best Leaf so far this year. OR ... you could just pick the stuff that gets your panties in a knot. |

I don't remember specifically when it was but I mentioned in here over a 3-4 game stretch that Matthews wasn't looking all that great in those games and nobody took a dump on my chest over it. Probably because I didn't call everyone a homer, I don't know.
He hasn't been perfect and he has had some less than good games but overall he's been so much better than I thought he would be as a rookie and it's pretty easy to see that he will be good so I'm ok with everything. He was good tonight too. |

Laine looks awesome, for what he is.
But he is playing with 2 experienced NHL players, both in their prime AND he plays wing.
Matthews is playing with 2 other rookies most of the year and, as Babcock pointed out this week, Center in the NHL, is a way tougher position than winger and Matthews is also getting 1st line center attention from the other teams.
That doesn't mean he is perfect either and I have never claimed he was a bust or the wrong choice or whatever. I just see the skill, and the hockey sense, and the size and see where he can be so much better than he is right now... and I don't mean Game 1. That was a fluke as much as anything. |

It appears to be constant after games. Sorry if I don't read every post in every thread, and remember them all down to the punctuation.
Did anybody actually say Matthews is a perfect player? Did anybody actually say he doesn't have anything to work on? When he makes a bad play, does no one mention it?
So, let's look at where we've gotten so far. It's fine for you to hyperbole; wrong if someone else does it mockingly. It's fine for you to put words in other people's mouths; wrong if someone is parodying you. It's fine for you to overreact on bad plays/habits; wrong if someone praises good plays/habits.
