Never been on a plane with them, but judging from just the car rides (with a DVD player) I don't know if I could do it.

Tried that too, but then I felt bad because the flight attendant had to watch our kids. |

I love how Mathews has one good game and everyone starts comparing him to mcdavid. Everyone thought he was the next great one. They thought leafs were playoff team. The goalie is very questionable, defense sucks and to much pressure on 19 year kids. The leafs will be good team in 3 years stop thinking they are good now and stop comparing Mathews to players out of his league. I told you he would end up with around 50 points this year just under wat jack had last year because he has no protection. |

In the top 5 in the league in shots. Has hit a billion crossbars his last few games. He's playing no different than the way he was playing before.
And oh he's on pace for 70 points right now.
I can see your jelousy. Keep it coming it's great to hear |

No one thought the Leafs were a playoff team. Majority had them between 27th and 30th. The Leafs are vastly over achieving expectations thus far. The Sabres? Not so much

I really appreciate you stopping by and setting us all straight. It was just what we needed to temper our lofty, unrealistic expectations for Matthews and this team as a whole this year.
While some posters may think that Sabres fans are a pack of jealous clowns from a poopty town, cheering for a poopty team, with a redheaded stepchild as the team's saviour, I for one think that's completely baseless.
Thanks again,

Finished the game last night on PVR this morning.
Hot takes from the Gravy Boat:
- Rielly needs to play like that all the time, stepping up and driving the play, especially when he's on the ice with the lugs on the 4th line (more on them later).
- Matthews is still playing well, getting a lot of chances, so I'm not worried at all; they'll go in eventually.
- Hyman, Komarov, Marincin, great to see those guys get their first of the year, particularly Hyman and Komarov who've played well, but haven't been rewarded.
- Andersen: Ok, I'm finally starting to get a bit concerned. While we've been winning with him in net, it's been a tough go of it: he just doesn't look comfortable back there at all and is still prone to let in some softies or doesn't make that big save when you need him to. It's still early, so I'm not having a full-on ThePresident-esque mental breakdown, but he needs to shore up his game sooner rather than later.
- I'm tired of the Smith/Martin experiment, almost as much as I'm sick of the Marincin/Polak pairing. Dead weight back there. Like, Corrado can't outplay either of those guys? And poor Sosh: just nothing to work with there: Smith and Martin are too slow to even get a cycle game going because they can never get in there ahead of the D. Smith's possession numbers are brutal too, so not sure what the point of a faceoff "specialist" if he's just going to cough up the puck and give up scoring chances against whenever they're on the ice.
Time to build a real 4th line that can cycle and play the game. Holland and Hyman on the 4th line is an upgrade, I don't care what anyone says about Holland's game, it's an improvement over Smith's. Put Sosh up with Matthews and Nylander and give them a shooting option with the same kind of grit as Hyman, but more skill, and more suited to a rush line. |

I thought Holland was playing well and noticeably working hard to start the season, still not sure why Babs switched him out.

he wanted to have a rightie in the lineup for face offs... rightie / leftie seems to be a babcock staple in his lineup decisions |

Babs is kind of set in his ways: if he likes a player, particularly the plugs, he's loyal to a fault (see Hunwick, Cleary, Glendening, Froese, Smith).
If he doesn't like you, *ahem* Holland, Corrado, you're just kinda (frank)ed either way.
But yeah, I thought Holland looked fine to start the year. I recall at one point when we had Brown, Holland, and Hyman in pre-season on that 4th line thinking, that's gotta be one of the more skilled 4th lines in the league. |

You're being facetious, I know, but we're winning despite what the deadweight is doing. Polak/Marincin have been godawful and Martin/Smith have been pretty dismal too. |
