Consistently Marner has by far been the best rookie. Mathews has been good but streaky. Kinda like Kessel was. Nylander is the same. Plays when he wants to coasts when he wants to. But even at that, there's flashes of brilliance in all three. Biggest prob is the defense so until that's fixed I expect a lot of pain

Matthews takes big huge circular paths out there instead of playing with a little power. With his size, I would like to see him drive wide to the net once in a while and head for the net when he doesn't have the puck instead of looping around all over the place. It is like he is looking for the perfect play on every play. Marner is not like that at all. Nylander is pretty much invisible. |
