All teams would have to unanimously approve his return and he'd have to wait a year from the end of his current deal. So he'd be 34 until he can return me thinks.

Not sure if Devils would have first choice or not.

- Streit2ThePoint

He can't return as a UFA until he is 35, and I don't GMs are going to unanimously hand him back to the Devils at a reduced cap hit before then. Just don't tell Ek, I'm looking forward to sources telling him about Kovy's return to the Leafs in time for the playoffs.

Many say he has slowed a ton since he was in the NHL drawing comparisons to Alex Ovechkin.
- Eklund

If Kovy is drawing comparisons to Ovechkin, sounds like every team in the league should be interested.

Kovalev started this trend and it has continued to Semin and Radulov...This possibility could grow even stringer if the Habs find themselves with Kirk Muller, who is close to Kovalchuk, in a more prominent position.

get over it

Therrien is not getting fired. If he does, Muller is a terrible HC and won't be replacing him.

."Many say he has slowed a ton since he was in the NHL drawing comparisons to Alex Ovechkin."

Huh? Totally confused by this. Has Ovechkin slowed down? 50 plus goals in each of the last 3 seasons? Am I missing something here? Eklund, or anyone, could you please explain? Let me rewrite this statement:

"Many say Kovalchuk has slowed a ton since he was in the NHL, drawing comparisons to a certain current NHL player who has won the Rocket Richard Award in each of the last 4 seasons, and is projected to win it for a 5th straight year in 2016-17."

My best guess is you meant Alexander Radulov? Who hasn't really slowed down either and is currently putting up similar stats to those of his past tenure in the NHL. Baffling.

So he may be a candidate to return to NJ because the current assistant GM in St. Louis and one of Minnesota's top players love him?

I don't understand.

If you are implying that Kirk Muller becomes head coach of the Habs, it won't happen! He doesn't speak French. Alas, that's the ultimate challenge in MTL. The coach has to speak to the media everyday and in French. Just ask Randy Conneyworth.

You're just saying that cuz Radulov undressed Muzzin on Byron's goal!

I actually didn't get to watch the last game.

But to be honest, I didn't like Radulov when he was in Nashville.

For a classy organization like Montreal to ice someone who has shown no loyalty to anyone ever, its a head scratcher. He's a scum bag.

I haven't seen a such a talented and hard working canadians winger since Mats Naslund. And Radu is alot stronger on the puck! Wow! He'll have over 60 points for sure! He works every shift and doesn't give up! I'd take more scumbags like him anytime!
