This isn't specific to this game. He was 2nd in the league among forwards in ice time. He should be playing a checking role, not a role expected to produce offense consistently

Thats not the rule. What matters is Kane caught him and skated with him before a "foul" happened. I'm not even sure it was much of a foul. I didn't hear the call it must have been hooking but that's weak and for it to be called a hold Kane didn't even "grab" him until the puck was gone.

Like I said, it was what I was told. I don't know if it's an NHL rule, or some sort of made up guideline, but as soon as I saw Kane's stick come down, I assumed a penalty shot.

A double minor for getting his stick up trying to protect himself. Seriously anybody else just coming back from cracked ribs and he's given a pass. Not to mention the only one fast enough on the team to even catch Greene there...

btw, I love how the refs let the game play on (with Sabres possession) then only call the 4 min penalty after they whistle it down cuz the guy was hurt. Love the fact that Okposo is highsticked right after they kill off the 4 min penalty and no call is made. ref inconsistency fkn kills me.

I have no problem with that play from him. I have a problem with Bylsma treating him like he's Stamkos

Yeah he had already caught him at the blueline and actually kind of got around him from his right to his left and then grabbed/pushed him. It was a good play on his part even if it was a minor, tough to get the penalty shot called. Nilsson should've had it, but he's the backup for a reason, and it was only the 2nd goal allowed in the game.
