It was definitely a penalty and a good one to take, but that is no way, no how a breakaway, Kane caught him by the blueline, and they were right next to each other. It has to be a breakaway for it to be a penalty shot. That wasn't even close to a breakaway.

I always was told, that in rhe pro leagues, the breaking player had two strides or more on the defender (and he definitely did), it was going to be a penalty shot. If that's the case, then it was the right call. Of not, it sucked.

He shouldn't be playing a lot of minutes. Another late game penalty (not the penalty shot) another game where he just skates around not really generating scoring chances. Just play him with Larsson and Gionta

He's the KING of fast skating, shooting wide and taking bad penalties.

He has brought nothing to this team since he's been here.
