Mason just isn't good on breakaways, and really never has been. This team is just not good when it comes to attention to detail. Way too many puck and coverage errors. They don't seem to be showing signs of cleaning it up.

The sad thing is, Frederik Andersen has been so shaky tonight. This reminds me of the way the Flyers finished that Pens game... they had Fleury looking really wobbly, and couldnt seal the deal.

That seemed like a pretty ticky tacky call.

Ghost has been iffy to start the year but it's tough when every mistake ends in your net. Goalies need to help.
- flyer_nutter

The lack of effort on the side of Ghost on that shorty, the skating the puck in front of his own net, the soft overall play in his own end. His skating and offensive creativity and heavy accurate shot keeps him in the league.

Gudas and Del Zotto standing around watching as Kadri splits them in the first. These are not first pair guys. Nice pieces when they're on their games but Kadri is no Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares or Giroux.

Overall we could have inserted a better one up.

The funny thing.

Last year it seemed they started our strong in the defensive end and it took time for the goals to come. Opposite this year. They are very sloppy as a club right now and I am sure that is not helping the goaltenders.

Simply put though, the goaltending is absolute trash. Brutal. I am no sure how I feel about a game for Stolarz. Weird to think about.

steve mason's save % is .739 tonight and someone said he'd go back to the .920 range

So obviously the Flyers have to do something about the goaltending and defense.

My radical inner self would like to trade Gostisbehere before his stock plummets any further – perhaps for a goalie or pick(s). I'd definitely think about bringing Morin into the fold for some games.

Cousins is toast IMO. He's just not a NHL-calibre skater.

We all thought VdV was going to be scratched tonight but clearly that wasn't happening. He cost the Flyers a goal on that delay of game. I understand he's a big body who can skate (somewhat) and usually makes the safe play and kills penalties but it's pretty clear he's out of his depth in the NHL.

Shultz also looks pretty cooked IMO. He can block shots and he's a big body to help clear the crease and tie-up along the boards but he really just looks like an old man from an older era with all these youngsters flying by.
