A number of reasons. Clinton and the DNC really didn't want him, all those leaked e-mails showed they didn't want him and did everything they could to sabotage him. Wasserman-Schultz is resigning in shame from the head of the DNC.

The Sanders v Trump polls were really skewed to Bernie which raises the question as to why they didn't want him. Nothing about this election makes any sense.
