Hey Glucks,

Power housed that Ghosts of Osfront podcast while doing fantasy football research over the weekend. I enjoyed it, definitely had some content I never heard before, mostly quotes and letters from front line soldiers and officers which offered a unique perspective of that arena of war.

Whenever I listen to something like that, or read a compelling book on wartime subjects I am immediately reminded how dangerous political group-think and violence can be. Otherwise normal human beings can turn savage with the flip of a switch. Pretty frightening but also important to learn about so we don't do poop like this again.

The Eastern front of WWII and all it's repercussions should be taught at length to every student in Canada at one point or another.

This is why I believe education is important... things like history and science can be extremely humbling, and language studies and mathematics allow you to understand and communicate those concepts.

When you can see the mistakes that have been made time and time again, and understand our place in the universe... you're far less likely to be suckered into the kind of situation the Germans found themselves in, or the Russians for that matter.

One part to me that was striking was the German soldiers that felt they deserved the Russian brutality at the end of the war. Just imagine being in that situation... knowing that you've done evil things, knowing that you're fighting for the wrong side, but also knowing that you have to try and fight to at least delay what you know you have coming to you. Awful.
