The POTUS is just now boarding AF1, en-route to Texas.

I wonder which way the Left Wing Progressive Main Stream Media will Spin his visit today.

1. Too late, should have come earlier

2. Too soon, interfering with relief efforts

3. Arrived at the perfect time, not too late, not too early ....

Can you at least agree Texas isn't the reason "the French still speak French, and not German"?

Well yeah but i'd have time for little else if I dedicated all the time necessary to correct all of d00ps paranoid delusions.

So I guess you never heard of the "Lend Lease" policy, an American program under which the United States supplied Free France, the United Kingdom, China, the Soviet Union and other Allied nations with food, oil, armaments and materiel between 1941 and August 1945?

Are you so Anti American, to think that the American industrial complex had no effect on the outcome of either World War?

https://www.thoughtco.com...he-lend-lease-act-2361029

http://www.historynet.com...ts-defeat-the-germans.htm

As for the Cover of the Magazine .......... it does not need to mention Houston, as that is where Harvey first made landfall, and the majority of the flooding is.............or did you think it made landfall somewhere else??

I know about lend lease. How does that tie into your argument about how the Texans that served in WW1 and 2 are the reason France doesn't speak German?

Also, from the article you posted:
Particularly important for the Soviets in late 1941 were British-supplied tanks and aircraft. American contributions of the time were far fewer. In fact, for a brief period during December 1941, the relative importance of British aid increased well beyond levels planned by the Allies as a result of American reaction to the outbreak of war with Japan; some American equipment destined for the Soviet Union was actually unloaded from merchant vessels and provided to American forces instead.

and

Lend-Lease aid did not “save” the Soviet Union from defeat during the Battle of Moscow. But the speed at which Britain in particular was willing and able to provide aid to the Soviet Union, and at which the Soviet Union was able to put foreign equipment into frontline use, is still an underappreciated part of this story. During the bitter fighting of the winter of 1941–1942, British aid made a crucial difference.

Do you have any figures on how much of the equipment manufactured by the US for the Lend Lease program came from Texas?

No?

I don't really possess any knowledge on the big stuff that isn't just accepted as historical fact.

The line I had an issue with from Glucks was:

"You might be able to argue the American effort in Europe kept France from being ruled by Russia, but the Nazis were going down either way, to the overwhelming force of the Red Army."

Not sure if he's being wilfully disingenuous or just misinformed?

doesn't matter either way I suppose, eh?

Maybe he's a big fan of the former Soviet Union not unlike Oliver Stone? Ever watch his documentary series on WWII? You'd swear the Soviets never had a non-aggression and economic pact with the Nazis that resulted in the annexation of Poland before operation Barbarossa and that they were the only heroes of the War.

insane stuff

I was curious to see if I could find any actual source on how much different states contributed to the lend-lease program, but all I could find in relation to Texas is amazing little tidbit:

In WWII, the Russians complained about the condoms sent with the Lend-Lease supplies. Stalin claimed they were too small. Finally, Roosevelt had extra-extra large special ordered—and shipped in packages marked “Texas Medium.”

For context, the condoms were for their guns, to prevent water damage.

Russians definitely weren't "good guys"...Stalin's disregard for the lives of his soldiers, and their willingness to rape and pillage is legendary. That's why I'm saying you can thank American forces for Western European countries not falling under Soviet rule.

My point was that Germany had poured so many resources into fighting Russia in Russia, that by the time Russia was ready to go on the offensive, Germany was done for.

The Axis suffered more than 80% of it's casualties on the Eastern front. The Western armies tasked with dealing with the rest of the Allied forces weren't the elites by any means, as those guys were dead or dying against the Russians.

Even if Britain, Canada, and the US didn't go through with their invasion, once the tied turned in the East, the nazis were done.

Your Progressive beliefs are in lock step with the generalization the Magazine cover made ............. you obviously believe that each and every voter in Texas, who did not vote for Hillary, is a Nazi.

I get it.

even if anything you ever say had any weight or could be taken seriously (you know, if you had any credibility) your first sentence of this post (before the special ed kid ..........) erases any chance that people will listen to you. you're a divisive piece of poop who sounds exactly like a divisive piece of poop. you're not smart enough to try to hide it.

if you want to persuade people to be as dumb as you then you're going to need to work on your power of persuasion. and find people as hollow-headed and willing to follow as yourself. of course, you should just skip all that and kill yourself. that would be your ideal situation.

Soviets were steamrolled into near submission until winter. They were losing tanks, aircraft and Man power at a 10/1 ratio. The Germans being ill prepared for winter battle due to Hitler's belief that the offensive would be over before winter warfare could commence played at least an equal role in the Nazi's defeat in the east.

Slow troop movements, plunging morale and lack of adequate supplies and equipment allowed Stalin time to reinforce a crumbling line with his battle tested and winter ready Troops from Siberia.

Also Hitler was a (frank)ing horrendous battle strategist thankfully. Second guessed his primary objective on three different occasions in regards to the Soviet Union, splitting his forces and sending armoured columns on time and resource wasting marches back and force between the political objective of Moscow and the strategic objective of Stalingrad which was the doorway to the Soviet oil supply and uncontested access to the Caspian Sea.
