what would you do instead?
- Michael Pachla

I'd swap Reinhart and Moulson and then in ideal world trade Ennis/Girgs and replace them either with someone we got back in the trade or someone from Roch.
When that line steps on the ice I have zero confidence that they'll produce anything.

Yep, I'm aware. I also never said he wasn't good. I'm a McCabe fan. I said we really aren't as young as people make us out to be. Especially without Eichel in the lineup.
- sbroads24

got it...I was just looking at how many years he's played pro hockey...

that said, I agree, they're not maple leafs-young, but when you put it all together--new players and coaching staff from last year, plus rookies Eichel, reinhart and McCabe and a very young risto, they've not been together under this coach and his system for a very long time...

needs time to gel and imo, it's beginning to happen

I was hesitant about moving ennis when his name came up in the rumor mill, but I've move to "meh, if they can get a good to great return, go for it" camp

It is kind of an excuse. The Pens fired there coach mid-season and won the cup....twice. They didn't need "time to gel" years.

This is the team. They are 2 games under .500 missing Eichel. It's not horrible, and it's not too promising.

Can you name me one prospect that you don't think is going to be a average besides nylander talking forward not goalie

It would be one thing if they actually had a bunch of young guys playing significant roles, they don't. They have 2 or 3

That doesn't give me too much confidence .. Lol damn

Asplund is not up there with nylander IMO he is in the Group of the Drew StaffordGood but not great

Asplund should be a top 6 forward. Bailey and Baptiste both have a decent chance of being top 6. I consider average forwards to be good 3rd liners, 30-40 point guys.

Im sorta halfway in this thinking. Im still operating under the assumption that the core isnt finished so Im not quite as disappointed.

This is a stretch. Most of the prospect folk including baker have him as a 3C in the nhl.

Everything I have heard has him as a top 6 guy. Even saying he was projected to go in the first round. Maybe I'm wrong but I hope he'll be more than a 3rd liner.

It's definitely not finished, but we are struggling to come up with ways to acquire it.

This team is not very skilled. Especially on defense. Even if they are 6th in GA, they don't generate offense. 0 goals from the blue line 10 games in

I think there are more than a few ways they just require not being in love with certain players/picks even though they are great.

Well we can't have 9 "great" forwards on the team buddy
Salary Cap

At this point, our top9 for the future looks like this:
Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo, Reinhart, Nylander, Kane, Ennis, Bailey, Fasching

That looks pretty good to me

Good balance of skill, speed & size
There's obviously some guys on that list I'd prefer to upgrade,
But we do have to keep the Cap in mind

The debate I'm having is more towards the future of what players are going to step in for what rolls next man up . Kane , Ennis , Marcus ,Gus are not here

You see that's my problem here we just have average prospects and these are the prospects that are going to step in next to take over

There's always the players that come out of nowhere and play well. Look at Tampa with Kucherov, Palat, and Johnson

That's what I'm trying to tell everyone we don't have that special player in the system we never have a hidden gem .
