See my edit. Weighted average is still 28th.
- Wetbandit1

The weighted average only takes into consideration games played that season

"The weighted average is calculated similarly, except that the age of each player is weighted by the number of games he has played during the season. The weighted average thus considers the impact that the player has had during the season"

I'm assuming that means if someone like Nylander or McCormick were on the "roster" the weighted average would consider they weren't actually playing?

That's the point I'm trying to make they have not shown glimpses of oh my God these guys are going to be cornerstone players for us no just average players
That's it .. The only person out of the group that's going to be good is nylander

- GERBE!!!75PTS

You don't think Risto and Jack First and foremost as well as Sam and McCabe are cornerstone pieces??? if that is true I have nothing else to talk to you about, other than to say you know NOTHING about hockey. and you say Nylander is a cornerstone piece but he has shown NOTHING yet.

I remember 2003, when clutch and grab was played effectively, and acutally shut down the league.

I haven't eaten peyote since 1990something, but I was having a flashback last night watching the leafs.

- Der Kaiser

yeah...those refs would not give the sabres three powerplays in a row...late in the second, Foligno mugged by carrack in front of the leafs net with the puck no where near them--no call...Girgensons coming out of the buffalo end gets rid of the puck and polak just steps in front of him and literally lifts gus off the ice impeding his progress--no call...early in the third a very tired marincin puts the blade to Gionta's mid-section for almost three seconds...no call

I get what you're saying, but they're still a very young team. They have some experience, yes, obviously they're not totally devoid of it. But they're not on the level of an elite team in terms of it either, especially when your best player has a whopping 81 pro(NHL, AHL) games. Sure ROR has a bunch of games, he played his 500th earlier this year. And a few others, but mostly the guys you're relying on don't have that experience. Neither do we have Recchi, or a Hossa or someone of that ilk. I wonder what the "games played" rank would be? It's still going to be near the bottom of the league.

I don't think he was talking about Jack and Risto. Maybe about Reinhart. I think he was mainly talking about Bailey, Fasching, Carrier, those guys.

you need to slow your roll.... dude... sometimes it takes longer for young folks to get 'it" we have a couple goalies that are playing way above avg in the system... and some young kids as well... like Stephens.... relax.

Honestly i'm not sure it would be.

Gorges has a ton, so does Moulson, Gionta, Franson, ROR, Bogo, Kane, Okposo, Kulikov, Ennis, Foligno. Girgensons and Risto have to be around the 200 mark.

Really it's Reinhart, Eichel, McCabe, Lehner, and maybe Baptiste or Nelson depending on who's dressed, but they're playing small roles

You never had or have to. Pittsburgh won the cup with Crosby as a 20 year old. Chicago did with Kane as a 20 year old.

They weren't comparable to our situation. They floundered for years due to bad ownership and management. Once they drafted there stars and had a few other pieces in place like Toews, Seabrook, Keith, or Staal, Malkin, etc they took off.

We made a conscience decision to bottom out, and draft Eichel and Reinhart. We also made a conscience decision to surround them with Kane, Bogo, ROR, Moulson, Lehner, Risto etc.

This is not a really young roster anymore, even McCabe is 23 already and people treat him like he's 19 with 5 more years of development.

- sbroads24

you do realize he went to college...right?...and he's in his sophomore season...and that he pretty much established himself as at least a second-pairing d-man on the club...and that he lead the team in plus/minus last season and that he was leading the team in that category again until relegated to the Isle of Franson

Well, if he's half as good as his brother (though I suspect that he's close in ability), then you have a hell of a player on your hands

Yep, I'm aware. I also never said he wasn't good. I'm a McCabe fan. I said we really aren't as young as people make us out to be. Especially without Eichel in the lineup.

I always knew that there was something different about Cabin...

Wait, does that mean that "Cabin" is where the phrase "to shack up with" comes from...?
