And we've been through this. You don't have to play the PP to be a top pairing player at ES, which is what the term means. It's not like he isn't a top PK guy too to contribute on special teams.

Don't be in disbelief, it's the same person who says AMac is a top 4 d man -- slightly overpaid though -- but Gudas isn't.

When all the prospects come up, I have absolute faith that either or both of Gudas and MDZ could be a partner for one of the young guns on a top pairing. People's expectations for "top pairing" are ridiculous. Being a true top pairing "talent" is different than being able to play on the top pair. Gudas gets it done time and again -- end of (frank)ing story.

Does he still think Vinny is a 2C lol?... I've honestly stayed away from this site unless I'm on a computer which is when I'm at work most of the time so I can only lurk. I have tried time and time again to get someone to acknowledge this site's shady practice of re-directing ads on mobile, but they just get ignored. I will only visit it on mobile to read Bill's blogs now, and that's only if I have to.

I feel like some people still don't realize the full implications of the salary cap. Perhaps pre-salary cap, you could build a powerhouse where Gudas is your #4/#5 guy, but not in today's NHL.

Me too. I understand he's not the possessor of a ton of raw talent, but he's quite a good skater and has more puck skills than he's given credit for. And he's smart. And when he hits the ice, good things routinely happen. He gets the job done. That's literally the only thing that matters. Plenty of top pair "talents" don't. It's pretty simple. Like I said, if say, Provorov turns into a legit #1 over the next couple seasons, I'd have complete confidence in Gudas being his wing man. Honestly, and it's still early, the only qualm I have is he's only signed for 4 years. Can't believe people are practically eager to trade him or were pissed he got more than 1-2 years.

Does Du-Mulan play on the PP? He doesn't?! But, but he was Kris Letang's partner for the Stanley Cup winning Penguins. But he's not a Stanley Cup caliber top pairing d man tbh, even though he is top pair defensively at ES and PK. Someone should break this to him and the team.

Someone also needs to tell Hjalmarsson and Hamonic they're not good enough to be on top pairs....because they don't play PP.
