He's inferring a larger problem in that if there's no wafers there's no friggin' alcohol either.

I'm also assuming cheese is out.

Might as well stay home and eat a salad with the wife.

It's not a problem though. We have bigger issues!
- YuenglingJagr

Sarcasm aside, they're all issues, and they add up. PEB as 3C, Schenn as 4C, CVV 4LW is a problem. The bottom 6 being a sloppily assembled mess is an issue. And CVV-PEB is the team's top PK unit. They are used in meaty roles. After a lot of talk by management and fans alike about needing to fix the bottom 6, it's talking out both sides to say it's not important.

Because if Schenn was at wing, that means there is no spot for CVV. Now, after a sit for a game or two, he can scratch Cousins for Weise, and CVV's spot is still there. It sure looks like the bottom 6 is being tweaked for CVV's sake.
- Mononoke

It doesn't look that way to me. Hakstol for the most part, is creating competition for ice time. If he doesn't like the way Schenn is playing, maybe he's sending a message here. I like Weise as a player, but let's face it, he hasn't done much, so he's sitting. I think Hakstol is trying to find a way to have balance in the lineup, and to get stronger play up the middle, which is so important in the NHL. Just because I don't agree with it, doesn't mean it's the wrong move. I agree with what others have said, the whining over CV, and how he is the coaches favorite, is just flat out silly.

The sad thing is that PEB and VdV aren't even that good at penalty killing. Now I do agree that something must be done to get more out of the bottom six, so why not try something a bit different:

Raffl-G-Jake
TK-Coots-Schenn
Read-Cousins-Simmonds
Lyubimov-PEB-Weise

Yeah, I know we don't want Raffl on the top line, but that line has worked before. Schenn could be the sniper on a line with TK and Coots and Read and Simmonds have had good chemistry in the past. It's not like they'd be breaking up a juggernaut so why not?

Maybe giving more ice time to better players will help, but that is a stupid place to start I guess. We can just keep moving PEB up the lineup if we need to get stronger up the middle

What's Mike Richards up to? Assuming he's got nothing stuck up his nose at the moment, do you guys doubt this guy is capable of centering a third line ever again? My desperation is reaching critical mass to plug a hole there.

Hextall needs to put his foot down. It's become glaringly obvious that Hakstol cannot be unbiased and objective when it comes to VandeVelde. Hexy went out of his way to build a better bottom 6 getting Weise and Lyub, and he still has someone like Leier ready to be called up. And yet VandeVelde plays. It's actually pathetic. He's the coach's son at this point.

This team can use another quality center about as much as the Eagles can use a top notch WR.

The best players are getting the most ice time already. Bellemare ranks 10th among all Flyers forwards in ES ice time.

I like the thought, but it's so hard to break up 11/14/93. Best line all year

If Hakstol wants to try Schenn at center to solve the issues in the middle, it's worth a shot, I guess, even if I feel it's doing a disservice to him. But he now has VDV, an AHLer on one wing, and an out of position Cousins, yet to establish himself as a regular, on the other wing to help nerf the line. Meanwhile, Belly gets Read and Lyub, two significantly better wingers, to help nerf. How this helps the team's issues sure is a fun mystery. What the (frank) is Hercule Poirot up to? Someone call him.

Schenn is at 4C right now and PEB at 3C. I don't want Schenn at center, but I sure as poop would rather it be the other way around.

Schenn at center to me is poop. He has been dangled there early in his career, moving up and down the lineup. Leave the (frank)er at wing where he is at his best.

Hak did this poop last season with Jake playing him on the fourth line as well.

The 3rd line is a mess quite frankly, Weise should be a big part of it and I agree with sitting him. Has been useless.

Embiid's busy being a boss, but Nerlens Noel is available. As for Okafor, Sam Gagner is a better 2-way center.

On that first goal, he played it right in the man to man coverage. Stayed between the player and the goal, up high in the zone. The shot was going well wide, and unfortunately, deflected in off of Voracek. Simply bad luck.

Terrible bounce for sure
I thought he gave Larkin too much space, but I'm no expert

Overall I was pretty happy with Amac last night
