You're the one that's not getting it. Teams lose to teams worse than them all the time. It happens. It's why the games are played and things aren't just done according to how they look on paper.

It's also a divisional game, which always means anything can happen. I get what you're saying. I think it's an important game, and one that I'd like to see them win. But there aren't really any guarantees in life. Other than death and taxes. The sky is not falling if they lose tomorrow. Would it be disappointing? Sure. But it's not the end of the world either.

It's kind of amazing how NHL and NFL are almost polar opposite sports. You lose a bad game in football and you can totally screw your season, whereas the NHL is far more about long-term trends and consistency. Trades are also basically night and day.

That said, we must always beat the Leafs in our building. Their fans need to go home crying.

No man, it's a valid concern

That means that if we have the exact number of points as Toronto and the exact number of ROWs as Toronto and we lose this game we might lose the 3rd tiebreaker. Last time the 1st tiebreaker was needed for one team to be in and one to be out of the playoffs was 2012-13 (Minnesota got in and Columbus didn't since Minny had 26 and Columbus had 24 wins).

hahaha When the last time it went to the 3rd tie breaker, that's what I want to know???

For sure. I HATE losing to the Leafs. What building it happens in doesn't even really matter. But it still happens from time to time.

Last time the 3rd tiebreaker was required was 2008-2009 when Montreal made the playoffs with 93 points and 41 wins and Florida missed the playoffs with 93 points and 41 wins. Montreal went 3-1 against Florida that year.

Note: Florida would have won the 4th tiebreak which was Goal Differential. Montreal had a +2, Florida a +3

Few people out there saying Jack shouldn't come back at all this year because he will never be 100% by that time. I know he is a work horse when it comes to the gym and conditioning. But that injury is one that will linger. For once in my life and the last time, i actually agree with Gerbe.

Division games don't matter any more than any other game since it's not one of the tiebreakers like it is in the NFL. The only way that they would matter more is if it's us and Toronto tied for the same spot with the same number of ROWs

A) Jack is not a top-5 player in the NHL no matter how much rest he gets.
B) No one said work him like a horse until his ankle gets destroyed, I said the team will be better when he comes back. No one said once he comes back he will get 50 goals in 39 games and the team won't lose again, I said the team will be better when he comes back. Being better than the player that he replaces means that the team will be better when he comes back.

We need Jack at his best I'm sorry if he's not right why risk ruining his career

no but everyone is assuming that he's going to take us over the top when it's probably gonna take like months for him to get back to his dominant self His speed will be limited and that's his best gift

Holy link length batman.

This will all be moot if we beat Toronto, right? Or are we going through this every divisional game?

Sabres PR @SabresPR

With his 2nd GWG of the season, Johan Larsson now has seven GWGs since the beginning of 2015-16. Only 15 NHL players have more in that span.

Doesn't matter if it's divisional, this is happening after a 3 game win streak - so ANY loss is going to result in "See, they're gonna be dead last again..."

If we Beat the leafs I won't have to deal with my brother for a whole week

If we lose I'll have to hear him talk about his three rookies they're going to win rookie of the year Etc and that they will make the playoffs before Buffalo

No one is saying play him if he's going to get hurt or hurt himself more. No one is saying suit him up early.

If the team is already playing well and looking like it's supposed to and Jack comes in at 80% he is still a good player that is added to your team. You're right, he won't be able to do everything, but if he can help and won't hurt himself more I say play him. Without him for now though we do need to at least tread water, which was the point of the first post. Getting a few games over .500 is important while waiting for him since we were looked at to be near the bottom once he went down. Him coming back even in a limited capacity with a nice 1st half of the season would be a big help and nice, needed addition to a team trying to make the playoffs.

My question is let's say we're doing alright without Jack and it comes to maybe December. He can play at 75-80% with little risk of reinjuring himself. Or we can rest him and bring him back later. When do we pull that trigger and put him back in?

expect Taylor Fedun to get called up and if he looks good in practice, Nelson goes back down to Rochester when Bogo comes back

Move pends how Bogo feels in morning, per my lousy source
