If advanced stats can convince teams that Gardiner and Marincin are good players, then I think I have made my peace with them |

How did the defense get worse than last year, they added a better player in Zaitsev.
And they look worse. - bobbyisno1
Forwards looking pretty lost in their own end. Having real trouble getting puck out. Not all on the D. |

Dubnyk - 3 shutouts; not 1st star of the week. - 1979AD
Obviously Anderson's family matter played a part in all this.
Good for Anderson, who the (frank) cares anyway? |

Bozak has negative value - daeth
Bozak is stuck playing on the first line again because he is currently the best center iceman the leafs have.
IF he got to play in his correct place, as a third line center / faceoff specialist, fans would love him.

marner
nylander
matthews
all better centers than him
edit: kadri, forgot him too
bozak isnt good enough defensively to play on the 3rd line. his only asset is his mediocre offense. he's an ahler on a contender. |

ah that's right..
so playing Jagr and Barkov and Marchand Pastrnak lines is the same as playing the 4th lines?
+ Gardiner gets a bunch of PP time and virtually no PK time.
Marincin and Polak the other way around.
So it's quite obvious these shots for / shots against numbers are like that.
In addition, quality of shots against / for is different than quantity of shots against / for.
God there are so many wrong with 'advanced stats' they shouldn't even be called like that (yet) - MaximusAurelius
The NHL site's stats are pretty basic so far, they need to add filters like 5 on 5, quality of competition, etc, but at least they finally have more than just goals/assists/ and plus minus. Sites like Corsica are more advanced, and whatever the teams are using are light years ahead of anything we can get a hold of, unfortunately.
One thing is certain, by any unit of measure, Hunwick is so gone.

Kadri and Matthews are both > Bozak
Kadri should be flipped to play with JVR and Marner, and put Bozak with the riffraff |

Man, Remember when Burke said that the Phaneuf trade would eventually be known as the Keith Aulie trade?
He can't even crack the Blue Jackets AHL lineup. Released from PTO today |

Good point - I don't. The only reason I know this is because the office Wild fan (He's from Minny, so not that weird) came to me this morning outraged about Dubnyk getting screwed over on the stars of the week. I told him that Anderson's wife was diagnosed with cancer and he quickly ferméed his bouche and went to get his coffee. |

But he's not though. I know two who are better. Not at faceoffs, but better in general. |

Kadri and Mathews are both better than Bozak offensively.
The Mathews line can;t get teh puck out of their own zone, against second and third line players. At least a year away from playing against the oppositions top players.
Kadri couldn't play defensively if his life depended on it. He seems to have peaked and is one dimensional. He is a third line center, playing on the third line where he belongs.
That's why everyone likes him. |

Hate to break it to you, Bozak sucks defensively too. Marner is the guy backchecking relentlessly on that line

Arguing about who makes a better 1st line center Bozak/Kadri is like arguing about which of Nylander or Marner will make better NHL enforcers.
