You trade JVR for a defensemen, then all the talk will be about how the leafs lack size up front and should trade for a big sturdy winger that can park himself in front of the net.
The point is the leafs aren't at the stage where they can think about plugging holes yet. They don't have the depth of NHL talent so any trade to plug a hole, just opens up a different hole.

Better to stay the course and continue to develop from within.

(Trying gardiner on the wing isn't such a bad idea)

- B-Wforever

Trying Gardiner on wing will plug a hole on defense.

I don't see it. They are carrying 8 Dmen, although I can neither confirm nor deny Frankie Corrado is on the roster as I have never seen him yet

I bet its a forward that gets the call

If you can keep one guy, taking into account their play, what they offer the team and cap hits, who do you keep: Holland or Bozak?

1. Carrick
2. Gardiner
3. Rielly
4. Marincin
5. Polak
6. Zaitsev
7. Hunwick

ah that's right..
so playing Jagr and Barkov and Marchand Pastrnak lines is the same as playing the 4th lines?

+ Gardiner gets a bunch of PP time and virtually no PK time.
Marincin and Polak the other way around.

So it's quite obvious these shots for / shots against numbers are like that.

In addition, quality of shots against / for is different than quantity of shots against / for.

God there are so many wrong with 'advanced stats' they shouldn't even be called like that (yet)

If I CAN keep one of Holland or Bozak?

I trade both.

If I HAVE to keep one of Holland or Bozak?

I keep Bozak.

Quality of competition and quality of shot attempts (for and against) are valid arguments.

PP/PK is moot; these are 5v5 stats.

I think Bozak is actually a player capable of doing something in the NHL.

Holland has yet to prove that imo.

And pretty high thanks for asking.

Holland would clear waivers. Zero trade value right now.

The only thing that Holland has to prove is that he can skate towards the net and keep his stick on the ice. Marner will do everything else

Gardiner is putting up some nice numbers...maybe he becomes more valuable the more points he gets. Like Franson did

thanks for clarifying that, i wasn't sure and couldn't find confirmation on that.

still happens quite often at end of pp / pk (when back to 5 on 5) there will be a (few) shot(s) in favor/against due to the proceeding pk/pp; after the (failed) pp the team will quite alot of time be in offensive zone (shot for follows) and after the (succesful) pk the team quite a lot of time will be in defensive zone (and shot against follows).

so failing no pp will be 'rewarded' and success on pk will be 'punished'..

Hope so. Send him to Winnipeg in the Trouba deal.

Or see if Pittsburgh would be interested in a package for Maata. Reunite the old Wisconsin Badgers top pair in the Pitt
