you've waited this long, what's another season of rebuilding and progressing the prospects into NHL players - Lucas.Neilson
I dont mind the rebuild.
Its been decades of one type of rebuild or another.
Its the horrid defense. Its hard to watch.
Even Rielly...wtf has he been thinking. |

He lost me at Dermott being on the team if not for the logjam.
Percy 2.0 needs some time with the Marlies before he is even close to ready for the NHL - WingmanWillie
Dermott outplayed Corrado, and Marincin in October.
I also agree with the plunger comment.
Why have Corrado sitting? He is a young guy, on the worst d in the league. If he is good enough, play him. If he even has an ounce of potential give him a shot. If not waive him and hope someone picks him up to free up a contract.
The kid doesn't have a hope in hell of playing well after sitting collecting rust for 10 games. All this so Hunwick and Polak get their icetime?!?

Good blog Lucas.
Every time I think the Leafs have a good prospect and say it....never pans out.
So I'm not saying anything about the DMan you mentioned even if I were to 100% agree....not saying I do but I might but even if I did I wouldn't/couldn't say it if I did so I won't because I don't. - underhill14

Because that isn't happening with the defense. Another year isn't gonna turn this chicken poop defense into chicken salad - WingmanWillie
Yup.
Not gonna happen overnight, and no one expects it to.
But wow...hard to watch.
For Christs sake I watched TFC last night.......please god dont let me turn on a raptor game prior to playoffs.

and if that right opportunity doesn't arise?
They just gonna force it, Tony? - WingmanWillie
of course not.
But dammit we look like edmonton.....the past several years.
But as I posted earlier...we had an improved October this year over last.
patience I suppose |

I agree. Give him a chance to prove he can be an asset to the team, or free up a roster spot so you can claim the next McIlrath to see if he can be an asset, because half of this D corps has proven they're not assets. |

Only 3 of them I see on a winning leafs team in a few years.
Zaitsev, Carrick, Reilley. Even these guys need to get better, but they still have hope.
Gardiner is just a pylon defensively. He's not getting any better.
Polak is tough but waaay to slow.
Marincin is slower than Polak, and not as skilled, which is tough to do.
Corrado, who knows, the kid never gets a shot. I assume this is because he isn;t better than the other guys which means he has no business in the NHL.
Hunwick is an ok 5/6 guy but not someone you build around. He is just taking space. |

Yep. I agree with this.
That's why I think it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to use JVR and any other player not on the roster combined with picks to get a #1/2D man on the roster asap.
I get that no one wants to trade prospects and picks....old school management PTSD....but I'm not talking about getting an old guy. I'm talking about Trouba/Fowler/???, a young D with proven potential to work and grow with this team.
Over the past few years of good management we have an AMAZING young team and have stock piled a lot of prospects and picks.
We have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Hyman, Sosh, Kapanen...and a few more up front and then Rielly, Zaitsev, Carrick...and a few "maybes" that are years away on the D. (G is what it is and without D we will never know for sure what we have.)
We need to take a little hit now, next years 1st pick and JVR...maybe...but at least then the key parts of our roster would be filled out and we won't become the Oilers.
The Oilers clearly show what holding on to a bunch of 1sts can do...nothing because ultimately you have to trade away that 1st later to fill out the roster. I like our 1sts and don't want to trade them, I don't know next year's 1st so trade it now before we like the player.
It's obvious what has to be done so why wait and (frank) up the good players we have with a losing mentality and ruin future chemistry by losing a player.

I would be pissed as a grown man to be told how to wear my hair or facial hair.
Dear Lou, it's not the name on the back or the mustache on the player's face...it's the logo on the jersey, (frank)er!
Sincerely,
Barb. XOXO. |

Trade JVR + 1 or 2 forward prospects and move Gards to 2nd line LW.
He was a winger til Uni, why hasn't anyone given this a shot. Let him fly up the wing yelling his name and throw a couple pucks on net without being a defensive liability. |
