Can't believe how well Brandon Manning is playing. 7 points in 10 games, +6. He's been the Flyers best defenseman by a country mile. Gudas has played very well since he's been back as well.

He is playing himself into being protected for the expansion draft possibly.

I've been a manning supporter.....just saying . seriously tho, the kids like Provorov and Ghost are allotted patience but Manning was just ripped on constantly which to me was a double standard. He was also a young dman learning to play at the NHL level. but I guess because he wasn't a draft pick or top prospect fans viewed him differently.

I always thought Manning was a solid 6/7 dman, but in now way did I have any expectations he would play like this. Is it sustainable? It would be great if it was.

I think the difference is confidence. The way he is playing now is how he played well for the phantoms. He was a two way guy in the minors. I think your seeing that now.

It seems to me towards the end of last year and so far this year he has been playing pretty damn well..

I have to think his numbers level off at some point though..

Talk about overdue: The Sixers haven't won a game in October or November since the 2013-14 season. They've lost 39 OCT/NOV games in a row.

they would need to re-sign one of their dmen so they have someone to expose if AMAC doesn't get to 40 games, no?

Doubtful...but he would be the only choice if DJ MDZ doesn't resign

My feeling is if Manning continues this type of play they won't resign Del Zotto. Del Zotto is going to get something near 5 million in FA if he comes back and plays well.

truthfully if they re-sign him for 5 million he would be the one I leave exposed. if they take him then so be it. if they don't and take someone else then fine. I don't want to see them lose a younger dman who has been playing steady while only making less than 1 million a year.

Maybe it's because Ghost is an offensive dynamo and Provorov is a 19-year-old who is already the best puck mover on the team where as Manning is similar to a younger version of Nick Schultz; nothing fancy, defensive-oriented defenseman. If Manning was pouring in goals or was a 19-year-old, he'd probably be getting ripped on less.

Sometimes, in the NBA, you have to take 1 step forward to take 2 steps back.

Can't wait.

I know people point out Provorov's mistakes but I can take that from him. It's when out veteran guys make the same damn mistakes that frustrate me. Can't wait to get Del Zotto back and maybe get Provorvo and Manning back together.

Gudas - Del Zotto
Manning - Provorov
Gostisbehere - Whatever vet isn't suck at the time.

- J35Bacher

I think a lot of Provorov's mistakes come in two areas:

1. Trying to do too much because his veteran partner blew coverage/made a bad pinch/turned puck over etc.

2. That Provorov tried to do something he did with ease in the WHL and is learning he can't get away with at the NHL level.

These are learning curve mistakes. He's 19 years old and has 10 games above junior level hockey. To me, there's been far more good than bad, plus he's been playing a huge role on top of things. Quite literally they tossed the kid into the deep end of the ocean.

perhaps but I try to be patient with any young player. nothing wrong with an undrafted dman who's upside looks like a Schultz type. he is showing to be a solid guy. nice find

Nice to see them cut missing net in half....
See what happens putting it on the net, the puck may go in.
