This is a stupid meme. Makes no sense. Chiarelli has benefitted from having Hall, Nuge, Eberle, McDavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Nurse, and Davidson all NHL capable.

Mac T had Hall, Nuge, Eberle, and sorta Yak, plus a handful of past there prime vets like Horc, Sh!tney and Hemsky.

I give PC full marks for the players he added ( Maroon, Kassian, sekeras, Lucic, Talbot, Larsson, Russel, etc) but clearly he walked on to a team much richer in talent than Mac T did.

Any person can see that Chia was given a team with talent, so it was easier for him to reap success in comparison to his predecessors. Now if we were to analyze that meme, the "did it in 5 days" statement could possibly point to the Lucic signing and Hall/Larsson deal. However, I'm certain that the meme was created before that (during the 2015 draft if I remember correctly).

I dont hate Chiarelli, but seriously....you wanna call him a genius for reshaping a roster that already had all that talent? Im happy with what hes done but he still doesnt strike me as brilliant. Good thing hes amazing at cap management, we have no worries there.

Well he has made some shrewd deals for his depth players that were cost effective. Maroon and Kassian come to mind firstly...but overall I think hes been a little loose with the company wallets.dont you think Talbot cashed in a bit early at over 4mill per? I wont critique free agency much cuz its like shopping in december...everything is marked up. I think were ok if this is our team going forward, after the anticipated departures and rfa raises...but it wont leave us much wiggle room.

Expect Nurse (3-4 mill) Draisaitl (5-6m), McDavid (9-12 mil) to take a chunk of whats left and we need to start thinking of resigning/replacing Eberle.

The 4mill+ per for Talbot was probably one of the bigger risks (Hall/Larsson trade is up there as well, but so far, it has been paying dividends) during his tenure as an Edmonton Oilers GM. If that went bad, oh my... But as you said, F/A drives everything up.

Futurewise, we should be in good shape. One thing to note is the notion of whether or not McDavid will take a discount. 9m vs 12m is quite a difference and I'm certain that it will be the difference between being cap-strapped and having wiggle room.

As for Ebs, I don't see him leaving Edmonton to be honest. I think he might be a one club player. If he were to leave, I don't think he will leave via F/A at the very least. It would have to be through trade.
