Ok sure when you phrase it that way i sound ridiculous but i dont think its that grim. You posted an article about players with good value towards there contract. I still maintain thats the core issue here. If they shed the dead weight and replace it with players who are worth the money they are giving to those players currently i think you'd notice a dramatic improvement, especially on D. well that and a new coach.

Edit: It hurts more on defence because at least when moulson sucks you can relegate him to the fourth line and still have a decent team up front. Bogosian and Gorges are still by default the #2 and #3 options.

I was half kidding, but I think we need another elite scorer, and close to elite D man to even be a threat, while also acquiring depth (of actualy good players)

I have little to no faith Sam Reinhart will be an impact player in the NHL. He will be good, but he shouldn't be a teams 2nd or 3rd best forward. Neither should Okposo or ROR

We need our Jaime Benn to our Seguin, our Kane to our Toews. Our Pavelski to our Thornton

Pavelski took quite a few years to become what he is today
I heard none of this Reinhart hate from u this summer
You're letting a 6 game sample size dictate your opinion on him?
That seems crazy to me

I dunno, hes no eichel but i think he fits in quite nicely at or near the top of any teams core. I do think they could still use talent up front but what i was mostly referring to is taking this team from bad to good, theres another step after that to becoming a true contender.

I think they need another good scorer, Im not sure he necessarily has to be elite, especially as a winger.

The defence, replace the 4 and 47 with guys worth 5.14 and 3.9 mil respectively and I think you'd have a pretty good, perhaps even really good top 4/5.

That has nothing to do with Reinhart. I'm saying we need that caliber of what Pavelski is today.

I was for drafting Leon. I also don't hate Reinhart in the slightest. He just isn't a player you build around. That class didn't have any besides Ekblad (who I admittedly didn't want at the time)

Did Reinhart not have a good season last year?
I think most would say that he did better than expected
6games into this year is enough to change your mind?

My Pavelski point was that you'd probably have written him off early in his career too based on this logic

You're overreacting to Reinhart
Even guys like Crosby struggle at times

If he only ends up scoring 15goals this year,
I'll be concerned
But again...
it's only been a few games!

U aren't gonna say Moulson is an AllStar based on these 6games are ya?

The hate has gone way too far, way too fast

My opinion has never wavered much on Reinhart. I said multiple times last year his shooting % was unsustainable, and he looked like he wasn't even the best forward in his class.

He's going to be a good player, maybe even really good. He's not someone who should be 1 or 2 on a teams pecking order

If Bylsma, Nolan and Ruff can all win that award, I'm convinced any of us can win it.

You mean the 8th all-time winningest coach?

Bylsma is the 2nd ranked coach all-time regular season points percentage.

Give me Crosby, Malkin, and Fluery all in their prime and let me see if I can match it

Our potential forwards for next year...
Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo, Reinhart, Kane, Ennis, Nylander, Bailey, Fasching,
Larsson, Girgensons, Moulson, Foligno, Deslauriers

Minus one guy from line 2 that might be unprotected & taken by Vegas
Looks pretty good to me
But that's assuming Ennis gets back to 20goals & the young guys continue to progress at a decent rate

PS...
told u all Ekblad was gonna be great!

Haven't watched all the games super close so far...
but Grant has not looked all that good to me
I'm all for Larsson or Fasching getting his PP time at this point

I know, I laugh every time I see that stat. The Bylsma one. The Ruff one is legit. He was just here too long. But he's a lock for the HoF.

It looks pretty good, but I think we need another big gun in there. Another guy capable of 30+ goals. I only see one guy with that capability

Thats what happens when your sole coaching strategy is: "pass the puck to Crosby/Malkin"

EDIT: Uh Oh! now my "pass the puck to Eichel" strategy isn't available

I certainly wouldn't say no to that...
but lots of 20goal guys there
We should be able to roll 3 legit scoring lines

Our biggest needs imo are still a partner for Risto & maybe a goalie
