But that's in retrospect. At the time, no one knew McD would be so good. Right now, we have actual evidence showing that a) Taylor Hall is a top 10 5v5 scorer since he entered the league b) that 5v5 scoring is THE most important thing a player can do to contribute to winning c) Adam Larsson provides so little offense he'd literally have to be the best ever defensive player to equal Hall's impact in a game.

All I see is people equating a hot start with a good trade and a whole bunch of other really, really stupid justifications and logical fallacies.

It's a bad trade, it will always be a bad trade and fluking into Puljujarvi and McDavid will cover it up, but not change anything.

I would have liked to get more in the deal, but as good as Hall is it never equated to team success. It's early and no one expects this streak to continue over the season, but this is a different team. Larson is a reason for that, plus his cap is really good. We can knock Lucic's contract, but the guy is a big game player. They wouldn't have got him without moving out a salary. The makeup of this team looks balanced finally.

The difference is that he's serious and I'm not. I don't even know what to say to these people who are clearly unable to identify sarcasm, subversiveness, humour or mockery.

Hell, I even wrote in one of the posts that it was a joke and people still keep talking about it. Hilarious to me, embarrassing for them. Good times for all.

Didn't you just question why people think you were joking earlier on the same page?

Untrue.

You know,I was tempted to debate all this with you, but talking with you is like clapping with one hand.

For someone who claims to be smart, you are not very.

Ya true, it's a trade that could happen because of a bunch of circumstances. I would bet it wouldn't have happened if everything didn't fall into place. IMO

I doubt the trade happens if they got Strome instead of McDavid.

The win-loss record, and where the team ranks in the standings, is what matters the most, more than the names on the roster do. A GM's job is to improve the team. The end results are what matters. We'll see if the trade has done that over the long term.

Yeah but you have zero idea about whether or not Hall was truly a good team mate. Awesome talent but since the trade a lot of rumours poured out about how Hall was not very well liked outside his very small kliq on that team.

Of course theres no stat to prove any of that matters.
