I wouldn't call it a meltdown...but it was definitely a mental blunder. He should of stayed in net there.

I agree with both of you, however nobody can see that bounce coming and it unfortunately landed on the islanders best players' (only last night obviously) stick.

I'm gonna guess you haven't watched much of the Flyers this year.

They may light the Penguins up for 3-4 goals, but they'll give up somewhere between 5 and 8.

Hows Provorov looking so far? I mean, I can look up his stats and see he has 5 assists and is -5 but all those assists could of came in one game and I dont put all that much stock in +/-, but that really doesnt tell me anything. Looks like he doesnt mind blocking shots. Thats a plus.

They started him with Streit and it was a mess. They moved him away and put him with Manning and it's been much better. He's had some hiccups as expected but overall he's been very good. Nothing Earth-shattering, but probably one of the Flyers' 3 best defensemen. He won't dazzle you like Ghost can, but he's getting more confident every game and just making (generally) good plays both with and without the puck.

Gotchya. He was known for his offensive prowess in Junior though, wasn't he?..

He was actually known for being a great 2-way defender. Yes, he lit up juniors, but that was because he was just naturally better than everyone. It was his overall hockey sense, not his junior stats, that got him into the NHL this year.

I actually do think MAF is currently the better goalie, but who's the better goalie is a debate that pails in importance tot he debate over who we should keep. To me, both are goalies that can give you above average production so who's better overall isn't nearly as important as aggregate cap space implications. I think the easy sound move to make is moving MAF, but I am open to the idea of The Old Man getting creative and moving Murray if it's for an inteligent return that saves the same amount of cap as moving MAF would have and helps us win in the now. That's a much harder move and I doubt it happens, but there's certainly a hypothetical scenario out there where moving Murr isn't the end of the world.

Anyways, solid post. Glad not everyone has to take an extreme stance on the Fleury vs. Murray situation. It's unsustainable, but for the initiate future we are well off for having both. Hopefully the decision to hold onto an elite tandem for one extra year doesn't (frank) us come expansion, because truthfully that makes me quite nervous.

Agree with everything here. There mighr be a move where the team ends up better trading Murray though it would be hard to find. The expansion draft is messing things up. The Pens are right ro want to see Murray for at least a full year before making that call. They could just get forced into having to chiose MAF regardless and that's something I won't feel comfortable about until it ends. But for this year, I'm glad to have both.

These things can happen when you play a couple young defensemen in prominent roles. Growing pains come but the arrow is pointing up in Philly more than most of the Metro.

So you agree that he shouldn't have gone after it? A play he shouldn't have made? An error that was in everyone's mind 1 he should never had made?

But I've got to watch the whole game before I can comment??

I don't mind anyone having an opinion that's not the same as mine, but don't go & contradict yourself when you criticise someone - not straight away anyway.

Doesn't matter who it landed on, it ended up in goal due to a fault from our goalie - now level of fault that's debatable but when you are playing at an elite level & you do that - polar opposites in my view, & that would suggest a complete breakdown in rational thought for that moment.
