Another factor to consider, with respect to the blue line, is if they feel like want to or need to retain MDZ, long term.
- johndewar

Hate to say it but MDZ might be the traded Defenseman at the deadline. He'll get a good return if he comes back and plays well. He'll be the most in demand of our group.

Trade him and the expansion protected list could become:
Giroux
Voracek
Simmonds
Couturier
Schenn
Gostisbehere

and pick 2 of Raffl/Read/Cousins/Weise

Along with Mason.

I think G has been going pretty good...

Good the power play. Dominated like a dog in heat while at 5v5

I was actually saying this yeaterday.

If Manning continues to play well and play well with Provorov, I would move Del Zotto at the TDL. I don't know if the Flyers will retain Del Zotto if Manning plays well all season and can start the season next year as one of the 6 on a 975k cap hit.

That would allow money to go elsewhere.

If they plan on protecting Manning they should definitely move MDZ. Long way to go yet, though.

Agreed. Between his value and what he may command, it may be best to move him. I personally like MDZ and what he brings to our team and think he absolutely has a place on this team for the future. But I'd imagine MDZ could fetch a 1st from a contender if he comes back healthy and consistent. And if we make playoffs that's two later 1st round picks. Would be good to add to our prospect pool, or hell even trade both picks to move up in the draft if it has a player we are keen on.

In regards to Morin coming up with the Flyers at whatever point of the season, how has he looked/played thus far for the Phantoms this year?

It's 7F and 3 D, and you only have one dman listed.

You can do 7 forwards and 3 defensemen, or you can do a total of 8 skaters (forwards/defensemen combied) plus one goaltender

But thinking that through again if you are doing 8 skaters it would be to protect 4 D really since 1 to 3 D kept would be 7 forwards. So yeah... nevermind...we'd protect 2 more D

Couturier
Read (depending if he keeps it up)

I wouldn't be surprised if he is possibly moved even if playing well depending on the Flyers in the standings. I think they would like to move on from the contract and cap hit.

I assumed it hadn't based on the Phantoms site, which lists no games until the 28th. I was wrong.

the site is very bad at showing previous results...either way...that egg must feel great on your face

Bill wrote about their opener. For some reason they have only played 3 games when several teams have played 6

If he can put up 45-50 points I'd be ok with them keeping him for his last contract year
