Not understanding the rush on this. They had time, what if one of our D-men breaks his leg tomorrow?
did they call all the teams and nobody wanted to trade for him?
Or do they feel 100% confident somehow he will pass through waivers unclaimed? (I just don't see that happening)

I honestly think the Blue Jackets are going to get him

I just can't believe that Gorton can't get anything for McIlrath. Kind of a waste if he gets claimed

Yup, pretty much my thoughts. Can't believe 29 other teams take a pass. He really isn't that bad.

I think 9 other teams would have to pass on him to get the isles. Funny thing with Pulock being injured I could see the isles putting a claim in. I just think somebody below them will snag him

Not nearly as skilled as Pulock, but McIlrath has an absolute cannon. If they paired him with a quick d-man on a PP, I could see him potting a few goals.

McIlrath and Gropp for Vatanen

Get it done Gorton

- rangerdanger94

Vatanen only earns $1.275. They need to move much more than that.

He makes 4.875M per year actually. I think his extension kicked in this year.

Fowler is the guy to move. He's decent and has a cap hit that doesn't kill most teams.

Although moving Vatanen shouldn't be out of the question for them with guys like Theodore, Montour, and Larsson waiting to take over an NHL job.

I hope the Isles claim McIlrath just for the hell of it. Waive him again when Pulock is healthy.
