They are almost even in Fenwick and positive in Scoring Chances. If they keep that up then the possession stats are showing Russell is performing better as an Oiler than he did as a Flame and Star player.

There are flaws in every stat and in every mode of analysis. He has a PDO of 108.8, if that drops to a normal 100 we arent talking about how great Russell has been.

The scoring chance battle is the big tell for me. I started looking into it more in Eakins' last season to try to explore the whole "coaching for corsi" thing after it was brought to my attention by a poster on Lowetide's blog. Only this past year or so have I actively explored Fenwick and HDSC differentials as a method of evaluation and so far, it seems like a better predictive model. Combine it with PDO and score-affected Corsi and I think there's you start to approach as refined of a predictive model as you can get.
