Except unlike those Flames our team is winning the scoring chance and high danger scoring chance battle rather handily (56% on the season iirc) and our Corsi isn't in the low-40s (around 48% iirc). PDO is running pretty high and Talbot is standing on his head so these aren't sustainable, but I don't foresee as substantial of a drop-off when that time comes.

I mean not really. they are looking good but they are on fire. lets see how they do when they are in a slump. it is how a team handles slumps and how they play that deffines a good team. oilers (pc) will not shut critics up until they have won the stanley cup. Also how pc handles the contract extension with mcdavid will be deciding in how good a gm he might be. if mcdavid gets like 25 mil avv 7 years he might have gone overkill and destroyed the team (personally I think mcdavid will get like 12 or 13 mil avv)

What Connor gets does not at all shape how good of a gm pc is

We won't be playing hardball with him. He'll get what he wants and hopefully he sees that taking less will help him and the team. Wouldn't be like drouin or even lindholm situation. It's a gemerational face of the game type player. We don't hold the cards. He does

A Stanley cup isn't the only measure of success. It takes a ton of luck, great tending and getting hot at just the right time. As a penguin fan you think you'd know this as you were a bubble team at best by fairly late in the season and there was even talk of looking to next year.
It's much harder to be elite and a true contender every year for multiple seasons. ANd that's all one can really build for
