I think everyone is overreacting quite a bit here
- jdfitz77

It's certainly troubling that they look so lost, but yeah, I think especially with Uncle Terry's plan of giving guys time I don't see that happening unless something really drastic happens like we lose 7 or 8 in a row by big margins, I know he has a hard system especially on the defensemen, but it shouldn't take more than one season to learn and there isn't the excuse of new coach, new players, new system this year. Sure there are a few new players, but they're not the problem. Outside of ROR and Risto really no one is performing. I mean Moulson has 4 goals, but they're all PP goals. And the aforementioned Okposo is ok at 4 points in 6 games. Gionta and Moulson can't keep it up; their SH% is unsustainable at 18.2 and 21.1 respectively. I don't think that Kane and Eichel are a magic fix to a team that seems to be stuck in low gear they're not really on the same page. They played a poor game against Montréal, they played an amazing game in Edmonton, a game they should've won against Calgary, a game they could've won against Vancouver, a game they had won against Philly, and then the utter poopshow that was like 50 minutes tonight aside from that great 10 or so minutes in the second period where they were peppering Dubnyk with shots, good shots, but seemingly got frustrated. It adds up to a very underwhelming start.

There have been coaching deficiencies to start this season, there have been energy issues to start this season(starting out West certainly doesn't help with that), there have been communication deficiencies to start the season. But there have been bright spots, if they can roll more and more bright spots together and string together a few nice games people should, somewhat anyway, back away from the ledge and put the gun down. But if they can't then yeah, the coach probably needs to go. The team has too much talent even without Eichel and Kane to be as bad as they were most of tonight and to make bad decisions the other night against Philly.

Murrays got a brand new extension, buys disco dan some time too. If there's no improvement in the second half then you could say his seat is hot.

I would say it's warmer than it was a month ago before the season started, but not yet hot.

I would trade Reinhart in a second. He's slow and looks lost trying to play center. He's going to end up a 2nd/3rd liner who will need to rely on strong line mates in order for him to be successful. He will never carry this, or any team, by himself. It broke my heart the day we passed on Sam Bennet in favor of another failed Reinhart sibling.

I think hes just adjusting but even then the obvious solution would be to have him play on eichel's wing full time. If its the only way you can get a top pairing d-man though..

Oh, no I know what you were saying, and I was agreeing. But I was also saying that I think it is warm. This has been disappointing even with Eichel and Kane missing.

If it was the only way we could get a 1/2 D then I would say a qualified yes. If he was playing with Jack to start and they were on a Matthews Marner run I'd say no. The problem is there just isn't enough data. We don't know if this is just a slump that every player goes through, or if he's just not very good without Jack.

Agreed but I dont think its that hes not good without Jack. I just think 15 doesnt get nearly enough credit for some of the stuff he does on the ice that doesnt always necessarily translate into goals.

At this point, I still think there are options to landing that defensemen without moving Reinhart but the longer they let it go on the more likely it is that option fades.

If he wasnt on a 5 year deal Id agree here. Probably interested in keeping stability too.

Positives this season: Risto, MOlson, Ennis, Nilsson apparent competence.

Bad: Everything else.

Conclusion: I'll come back later.

It is truly amazing to see Risto have that much composure in both ends of the ice for such a young kid. Ennis and Moulson seem to be bouncing back like everyone had hoped. And you are right...Nilsson seems competent (although the rest of the team not so much)

Ennis has one goal and is -4. That's a positive??? gives up 4 fror every one he scores??

Risto was a minus player last night....and a minus for the season. But I'm SURE he "needs someone to play with".

"risto needs a partner to play with that will make him better. Samson Nohart needs someone else to play with to make him better".

And here I was thinking years of tanking were to get players that made OTHER players better. My bad

4-0..... Not bad... could have been worse..... It's early in the season........ Don't panic yet.... It was closer than the final score.... They do have a lot of injuries..... They just need to tighten it up a bit......

There is no reason this team looks as bad as it does. I wasn't a huge fan of the Bylsma signing and he's not doing anything to convince me otherwise this year.

This team looks completely out of sync. It's like nobody knows where to be and when to be there.

And can someone please figure out a way to get these guys to actually pass the puck correctly??

THIS COACH SUCKS!

There's a difference between me complaining about the coach and some of you that complain that the players we have aren't good.

Granted, there are some (Cody Franson) that I'd rather not have on the team, but that's the nature of the NHL these days.

We have plenty of guys with plenty of talent. But our coach seems to just beat guys down until they're a shell of themselves and have no clue of where to be or what to do.

I'm not sure what his "system" is, but it's clearly NOT working. AT ALL
